What was the stuff you could get in the chemist that came in a bottle with a white label wrapped round it and a picture of a horse on it. Some sort of embrocation?

Hi Elizabeth, sorry never heard of Dr Collis Brown or Lion Ointment like Jane I think it's a bit before my time too. WE have savlon at home as well Jane , OH prefers the spray to the cream.

David all I remember about Newcastle was shopping in Eldon Square and the train station it was a huge place to a little girl, Mum and I would get the train at Seaburn station and I loved looking down at the river as the train passed Tyne bridge ,also the Sunday Market on the quay you could buy almost anything , Is it still there?

Showery and windy here. OH had to pick up loads of leaves off the cordylines this morning. I have made some scrambled egg for the little Robin.....he was around the greenhouse again this morning. OH wanted some......typical!! I'd put olive oil in it and that put him off a bit. lol

Was that Goddard's Embrocation Mel? The name seems familiar to me.

I remember the Cyril Lloyds adverts too.

We always had Dettol and Germolene that I can remember.

What a windy day ,not at all cold ,a few spots of rain now and again, its one of those days where i've hung my washing out once and got it in as it was raining ,now the suns shining again ,think i'll chance it and hung out again.

I don't remember Dr Collis Brown's tummy cure or Lion Ointment ,we used Germolene and Dettol .

Cold Pork and pickles for tea ,nice and easy ,thats how i like it !!

Washings out ...and its now tipping it down !!!

Hi Elizabeth, yes I remember Dr. Collis Brown, my mum used to swear by it.

We had baths (for washing not swimming) at the top of our road, everyone thought we were posh because dad put a bathroom in our house so we never used the local baths.

Oooh Frank, you sound just like my dad, mum and I would go down the market and come back with a bargain, and dad always said, you get what you pay for. He was usually right, most of the stuff we bought didn't last five minutes, but we still loved a bargain !!!!!

Sounds like your Koi will be well protected Mel, hope the herons don't get through, they will think think their dining at the Ritz.. Trying to find your e.mail address to send you the photo of my grandson. He's actually a very young 18 and I don't think he has had a girlfriend yet (that mum knows of anyway) he's more into sport, ice hockey in the winter and cricket in the summer. He's off to Uni in the autumn, so I expect it will all change.

Hi Sheila, just read your latest post. I for one am not at all fed up with your stories, just the opposite, I really enjoy reading them, dare I say, you are a little bit older than me (only a little bit, I was what was known as a Baby Boomer) so your memories are really fun and interesting. Don't stop !!!!!

Mel, Those oils were" WHITE HORSE OILS" We always used them when we warmed up for a football match, Helped with relaxing the mussels. The changing room stank of it, and made your eyes water, Still use it today at local football club.
Hope the other fish are settleling in alright.perhaps is was the charge of water !!!

Shelia, I did my National Service in 1958/1960. Went to Cardington,Beds for kitting out, then to Wilmslow, Cheshire for Basic training. (Where all the rich footballers now live) then onto Norwich, hence my love of the Norfolk Broards. Wroxham, was about 8 miles from my camp and Yarmouth about 15/20. We spent a lot of nights there in the summer time. Great fun !!!!

Have been busy all day trying to repair the sliding door from the lounge into the Conservatory. (It used to be the outside door) the hinge on the sliding bar at the top has come adrift, and its been an absolute Bugge# trying to repair it. Good job it's not our outside door anymore. It now closes but with a struggle. Thats why I haven't been on sooner.

Had lots of rain showers, some very heavy. Ros has managed to get the sheets and pillow cases all dried. Now she's planting some more plants, she bought yesterday. Can't get much more in the boarders. But she will find space.!!!!!

Ended up with shoulder of lamb last night. Haven't even thought of dinner yet, I needed a break for half hour.

Sheila I am sorry If I offended you about the length of your stories, I Only meant that at that moment I was just popping into say a quick Hello as It was tea time but would look forward to reading them later on in the evening.
You write as much as you want it is nice to read about other peoples memories. I am sorry to hear that you have sore arms and if being on the computer helps you forget THEN GO FOR IT.

I have sore Muscles in my back sheila and have just got in from my fortnightly visit to the Physiotherapist she was really happy that I have kept up my exercises and doesn't want to see me till three weeks so I am really happy.

Frank didn't you have trouble with that door a little while ago?It came off its runner or something?
It's blowing a gale out there and the gazebo canopy is going up like a balloon lol.I can see a couple of patches of blue but don't think they will stay long.
Have been to the Hairdressers.His little 2 year old daughter was there.Felicity is her name ,and she reminded me of myself at that age.I think it was all t he white curly hair.

I like the name Felicity Jane, wanted to call one of my girls that, Felicity Campos, has a nice ring, Felicidad in Spanish means happiness, but don't think it was very popular in Spain !!!

Yes I think Felicity is a lovely name.I don't know anyone else with children with that name.I did go to school with a couple of Felicitys.

Hannah's poor friend will be in a right old state tonight I should think .I saw her Mum this morning and she said the baby is encephalic (that's not quite right).It is where the front of the brain hasn't developed and the bones at the front havent joined.I think she will get berevement councelling offered to her.

I really feel for Hannah's friend, such an awful thing to have to go through, labour is bad enough, as we all know, but to have to give birth to a dead baby just heart rending.

I have to say Maureen I had a job to keep it together when I was talking to her Mum this morning.This would have been her first Grandchild.
Nature is so cruel sometimes,but hopefully F will realise it was just not meant to be.

I feel like a young girl lol I have got those legging s that make me look like Max Wall on and a dress top with dropped sides.I will never wear this out of the house but it is so comfy.If I was several stone lighter I wouldn't mind anyone seeing me in it lol

What an awful thing for Hannah's friend to have to go through, you would think with something like that ,that they would have done it straight away and not make her wait untill tomorrow ,the poor girl must be heart broken.

Is anyone else having trouble with the site today?? My cursor keeps disappearing and the typing is a bit slow and jumpyish.

It has been blowing a gale today with lshing rain all day. Have'nt been outside since this morning and I have done some washing which is still in the machine. May have to put it on the horse in the bathroom.
