I wasn't on yesterday as we had the electrician round to fit a new power board in our meter box.

He wouldn't do the work as we had heavy rain and a thunderstorm. What a wuz!! :-D

Still. he did do some internal work; new double socket in the lounge, replace a socket, new kitchen light fitted and a mains smoke detector fitted

Not quite. He's back on Wednesday to fit the power board. Most meter boxes on the older homes are on an outside wall. Even those put inside have to be visible from the outside so we never have any meter readers physically entering the properties.

So am I, Sandie, well almost: 41 years as a local government officer when I took a redundancy. I then set up a consulting business in 2006 and spent another four years with local governments in that capacity.

I closed the consultancy down at the start of this financial year (July 2011) as with the GFC Councils were no longer taking on consultants. I don't know about the Eastern States but I do know that in WA may Councils invested with Lehmans (sp) Bank. One Council lost $7 million: even a small one I worked for lost over $1 million :-(
