Afternoon all
Well xmas cake all cooked and looking good. I covered with foil for first hour, then took it off and all is ok. Its now cooling before I remove it from the tin.

Joan its only a Mrs Robbins light fruit cake not a traditional heavy fruit cake so thats why I make it 2 days before otherwise it would dry out. I shall ice it tom, take a pic and post on here hopefully.

Dr tel with my blood results today and so far all is good with liver and kidneys, iron level very good. Just waiting on the tests for Arthritus/inflamation ones, they take longer.
She also said my appointment for scan should be towards end of January. Letter should come out around 18th so fingers crossed for that.

Glad you got your bird table fixed Joan, your son did a good job for you.

Hardly any post today, 1 xmas card and thats it.

Last bedsheets in the dryer and thats all im doing laundry wise for a few days.

Hope everyone else keeping well.
Stay safe

Good afternoon from Cumbria where it is very wet and not very warm.
Nice to be here with family and I have already seen the new baby twice. Will see her and big sister on Christmas Day. Wow Joan that sounds like a lot of tree reducing, well done so. In law, and also son for Re-siting the bird house.

In case I don’t get on again have a lovely Christmas everyone and don’t eat too much <3

Afternoon peeps.
Well thats me cake iced but Im not so pleased as I ran out of icing sugar grrr. I so thought there were 2 boxes on the top baking shelf but there was only one so...its not a thick covering and wasnt able to do peaks. However Im sure it will taste good on xmas day.

Taken out the turkey as cooking that tomorrow evening. That freed a whole drawer of space in the freezer which is great.

My bargain suitcase on wheels arrived today, so quick to deliver especially this close to xmas.

No more washing, drying or ironing now til after xmas so even the machines need a break!

Joan hope you found your little milk and found everything else you needed.Glad you have someone to help you.

Its a little breezy today after a week of still weather but its jolly cold.

Ann enjoy your time with your family and so glad you got to see the new arrival.

I may not be on here tomorrow as have lots of prep etc to do but I hope everyone enjoys whatever meal they have on xmas day.

Eat, drink & be merry

Good evening peeps
Just to say hope everyone had a lovely day yesterday either with family or on your own.
Daughter & I had our xmas dinner and was very enjoyable. Spoke to parents and brothers etc throughout the day on phone and all was ok with them.

Been very quiet really, no neighbours either side as they are away elsewhere.
Made a lovely buffet today though, vol-u-vents with tuna, coronation chicken, a pasta dish and lots of salady things plus a huge cheeseboard!

I havent eaten my xmas pudding yet as i was too full yesterday lol but it will keep for another day.

Have to have a clear up tomorrow as mountains of boxes & bubble wrap cluttering hall cupboard.

Hope all ok with everyone
Take care

Good morning all, a sunny day with blue sky in Cumbria so hopefully we can get a walk in this morning..
Hope everyone had a good Christmas ours was noisy but fun, a bit different to the solitary life I am used to. Lots of nice presents and lovely food that I didn’t have to cook.

Well back to normal now, we had a lovely Christmas just 6 of us on Christmas day now down to 3 as usual. Didn't have the tv on at all on the 25 & 26, G/son attached his game box thing and we play quizzes and games on there. Sometimes in teams and there were cries of ' Nan how did you know that?' and 'Nan will know it's her era' Such a cheeky lot my family. All in fun of course.

OH watched some wild life programmes last night on channels I didn't know we had , no idea when they were added but he enjoys those type of things.
Managed to speak to family in NZ after the laptop camera packed up by borrowing g/sons phone might have to get one myself. :-D

Take care all.

Hello all from a lovely sunny but cold day here. beautiful seeing the sun and makes one feel happier somehow!

Daughter has left the nest until next Thursday and also left another pile of washing...oh my life never known someone to get through so many clothes! Anyway last of it in the dryer.
I have my lovely new friend/neighbour coming for lunch tomorrow. We decided not to go to town given the high number of cases here.

So Im making lentil/veg soup, smoked salmon & cream cheese sandwiches, warm crusty rolls and xmas cake with coffee to finish. Table all laid out so quite organised and really looking forward to seeing her.

Thank goodness the blue recycling bin was emptied today, it was full to the brim!

Well better finish off the washing and then mop the floors.

JustGinnie, daughter always asks me how do I know all the words to the songs on R2 and I tell her, some are old songs recycled lol :-D :

Well Jan 1st is here and I hope you all had a good last night of 2021. We stayed at home (as usual ) and saw the new year in with the TV on for the bongs of Big Ben. Apart from that nothing different from any other weekend really. Like everyone we are hoping 2022 will see us safely through this pandemic and back to a normal life that means we don't have to have updates of infection rates all the time.

Florence it seems like the last year was busy for you with the changes you had. Well done on the novel . Will you publish it when you finish ? Not that I know anything about writing a book just love reading them.

Watched the 2 soaps on itv yesterday , gosh how depressing are they at the moment , so much unhappiness on both of them. Do they have the same script writers I wonder? A bit of comedy would be welcome Moaning over now. lol.

Take care all. Enjoy 2022 as best you can.

Happy new year to all.
I just popped the tv on about 11.45 and went on bbc news so i could see London etc and then my dad tel at midnight for 5 mins.
I was in bed by 12.30. Was just like any other night really.

Its blowing a hooley here, wind 60 mph and electric been off and back on!

JG the soaps!!! Oh my I watch them but yes how depressing. Emmerdale storyline with the wicked Mina. How long can that go on and how does her sisters arms not ache laying in that position for sooo long, never mind the loo.lol

They all use to have a good knees up. Remember the queen vic on xmas day, one huge xmas day dinner for the extended families.

Anyway heres to a better year for everyone.

Hope everyone ok and keeping well

Oh Joan, poor hubby! Glad he didnt need to go to hospital but still how awful.

I agree people going over the border to get in a nightclub...blooming selfish if you ask me! Very quiet around here with just a couple of cars passing by but the weather is dire anyway and I have no intention of opening the front door.

I did a huge pile of ironing yesterday but left some as my legs were sore.

Enjoy your dinner tomorrow. i may make a mushroom curry on Sunday as not really hungry today.

Take care

Morning all.
Lovely dry & sunny day for us, there is a bit of wind but nothing serious.

Took a walk around the "grounds" earlier, picked up some twigs that had come down & noticed a lot of our Snowdrops & Daffies are just peeping through!
Still not found the Peanut bird feeder that was blown away recently it's a new one as well, just not seeing it lying anywhere!

I got my ironing all done, I don't mind ironing but I do have to take a break / sit down for a few minutes after doing just a few items, my legs tire as well Florence,

I have got our delayed New Years day dinner started, looking forward to it.

Joan.
