OK..I've checked

It's on ANCESTRY. Can't help, sorry

Whichever gives access to Daily Telegraph, I'm afraid I don't have subscriptions to them myself. I got the above information from Ancestry.

You can do a basic check yourself on the British Newspaper Archives. If it is there you can then take out a short sub .. If not there then the other option is Newspapers.com

nameslessone - as I am looking this up for a friend, I don't really want to take out a subscription, but thanks for your help.

ErikaH - thanks, I have found his lineage, just want to see the obituary. Thanks for looking .

Your friend may have to pay to get the info......the newspapers accessed via Ancestry are a separate site

Janet

Janet Report 19 Jan 2025 12:29

ErikaH - yes, I was hoping there would be someone here with a subscription to that site who would be willing to do the lookup for me. Fingers crossed.

Don't they offer a 7-day trial?

Janet

Janet Report 19 Jan 2025 14:54

It needs confirmation from institution where you are studying

ArgyllGran Report 19 Jan 2025 17:12

British Newspaper Archives doesn't have the Daily Telegraph after 1919. and nothing about Horace in any other newspaper, either.

ErikaH

I can see nothing indicating a requirement to say where you're studying.................. :-S :-S :-S

What would be the point of that?

From free trial - and the application didn't ask anything about studying.

Thanks so much, ArgyllGran - I can assure you that when I tried, it definitely stated student only, and needed verification. This computing=thingy is getting odder by the day.
