I know about the census and when they changed. If you look Mike I was referring to the 1901 census that you put on this thread at 13.46 and that they both said they came from Tollesbury. Someone else could have given the information for them. They could have been deaf for example. |

As there is no father named on the MC for Charles Wash, then either he was illegitimate or didn't know his father's name (left/died when he was very young?) |

Unfortunately, the 1841 doesn't show relationships to the head of the household, only rounded ages, occupation and if born 'in county'. |
