I've searched on SP for all deaths of a Mary (not specifying surname) in Kelvin in 1885 - and there's no sign of any surname remotely like Greenan. |

This looks like the son Owen in 1871 - he was a mason in 1861. |

I can only see the death of Mary Quinn (in 1906, in Kelvin, Glasgow) - no sign of Mary Smith's death, at least not in Scotland. |

Bernard's death cert only names Mary Smith as a wife. |

Used some SP credits to look at Patrick's marriage record (though Jean already has this, and could tell us herself!). |

I am not sure that the 1851 & 1861 censuses i refer to the couple who married in 1846. |

Mike, civil registration didn't start until 1855 in Scotland so only a parish record would be available. |

The marriage is on Ancestry but only the certificate will tell you if it's the right couple. |

You might be right there going by the ages for James and Owen on the 1861 census, james born 1838 and Owen 1843 . |

If this is the marriage of Patrick's parents then brothers James and Owen may have a different mother or father. |

And again thank you , shows the same address , Sharps Lane, as on Patricks marriage lines in 1870. |
