This man?
1861 England, Wales & Scotland Census Transcription Mansfield Lane, Calverton, Basford, Nottinghamshire, England John Beardant Head Married Male 48 1813 Framework Knitter Calverton, Nottinghamshire Ann Beardant Wife Married Female 47 1814 Dressmaker Calverton, Nottinghamshire, Frederick Blacknell Son Unmarried 24 1837 Framework Knitter Calverton, Nottinghamshire, Mary Ann Blacknell Daughter - Female 9 1852 Scholar Calverton, Nottinghamshire, Emma Blacknell Daughter - Female 5 1856 Scholar Calverton, Nottinghamshire,
Think FMP transcription is wrong- Family name (for John, Ann, Mary and Emma) looks like Beardall, and Frederick's name looks like Blacknall

Two possible baptisms at Calverton..I believe them to be the same...
February 26 1837 son of ANN BLACKNELL February 28 1837..or probably the 26th....son of JOHN BEARDALL and ANN BLACKNALL.............note the two spellings of Blacknall.
The illegitimate baptism son of Ann Blacknell is confiemed..the variation is not..though as Gritty says the 1861 census seems to support the father as being John Beardall.
Good luck
Derek.

The 1841 census has the family name as BEARDALL...John and Ann..and son Frederick born 1837..............he may have been born illegitimately, but it looks as if the parents married before 1841.easily checked...
Derek.

Same man 1871- presumeably FWK stands for Frame work knitter. If the Ann Brown marriage is correct- the children were born before marriage (possibly in the name of Brown?).
