That's the one. As in all Welsh traditions, John being the eldest son was named after his grandfather (another John James obviously) who is also buried in Penrhyn. |

I can't find him on either the 1901 or 1911 census. |

MarieCeleste, you are correct and add to that nobody knew his father or his mothers name nor his father's nationality - it certainly points to a lonely life. However somebody did contact his Welsh relatives to inform them, which is why I am so interested in finding out what his status was in the 1911 census.....or even the 1901 census.... thanks |

Given that the man dying 1919 seems to have died alone (hence the died 18th or 19th on the death registration) perhaps not much was known about him and the 20 years in the area may have been assumed or based on second hand info. |

thanks all. The reason I was able to join the death certificate to my ancestor was because of the specific date on his fathers gravestone in Wales, plus the fact that he was originally Welsh. He was 56 years old when he died. But you are right, no age exists on the original record. |

Hi Sheila, yes you're right, that's what it says on the Familysearch site and it is an original record. The one that gives the age as zero was from Ancestry (the date of death was the same) but on the British Columbia Vital Statistics site there's nothing, nada! |

Gins _ I'm afraid the only information I have was he was a widower when he died. I have no further information if he married in Wales or in Canada. thanks |

Dea / Margee. This is bizarre. The record I found was sourced by familysearch.org with the following details: |

Was John ever married and do you have any other information on him please? |

I see no such death either on BC records, except for the one above :-S |

This looks like the death but it's of an infant. |

I don't see a death for John James in 1919 on the British Columbia Archives site. |

ArgyllGran - you definitely have the correct John James in Wales |

All - to avoid confusion, a much earlier request I made for information contained errors and I went back to the drawing board. The latest request is based on finding the correct information relating to John James' death in British Columbia, with the exact date of death on a monument inscription in Cardiganshire. |

The other thread is marked as answered although it's not - another casualty of that stupid "Mark as answered" button. |
