Find Ancestors

does any one know where and what was halls buildings newcastle upon tyne in 1858 , this is the address i have on a death certificate of the informant ... i have looked on the net and found nothing , i have just phone newcastle archive library and tyne and wear archive and both said they charge £30 hr to look for info on halls buildings any ideas ?

informant was isabella atkin present at death

The most likely Isabella Atkin on the 1861 census is living in Mitford Street. Assuming she didn't move around too far, then Mitford Street is near to the present day Metro Radio Arena. Perhaps Halls Building was somewhere in that area.

I can't find anything to help on the internet, so you may need the help of the archives or someone who is going themselves at some point.

the person died at diana street , so can i ask is mitford street close to that

It's not too far away but not too close either.

If you use Google maps you can see where Diana Street is and you can also see where the Metro Radio Arena is.

Sounds like a possible tenement building that probably no longer exists

Have you tried an address search on the nearest census

yes i tried trawling through the census but didnt find anything but i dont know how to do a address search i just searched for isabella atkin

"The poll books of the Newcastle upon Tyne elections. April 1859, and June 1859" has the following entry:

Graham, Anthony, 9, Hall's buildings, Barrack road

I believe Barrack Road is a stone's throw from Diana Street.

oh thank you very much graham was the person who died but she had no anthony graham as a child i will look further into it that is great news

the 9 is that the number of the building or age of anthony ?

I'm struggling to see any other entry for Hall's Buildings- bear in mind the link is only
a transcription of the poll books- if you press control F you can search for the entry.

9 is his address- he would've been old enough to vote- it is a polling book

ok thank you i will do a search on the census for him in 1861 ... i think this could be the brake iv been neading to confirm william graham 1805 father as there were 2 births same year and both newcastle one to parents william and isabella norton and on to edward and isabella .. i had my william with father william but i found him next door to edward possable parent who also had a child anthony where as william senior didnt .. i also found a death of william graham in 1824 newcastle birth 1805 and phone all over to find his parents but got no further as none were listed on his death so i still didnt know who my williams father was but its looking goood for it to be edward ... a BIG thank you again

i will have to find the informant she has to also be related to the grahams

iv managed to look at the link and theres also a edward at 11 halls buildings barrack rd .. there are also akin but no isabella and none for halls buildings
