Hello - I am looking for any information, family tree, family photos, documents etc for:
William James CANN married Laura BUNKER Children: Cyril William Roy, Poppy Rosa, Gilbert Howard
Gilbert Howard married Violet Evelyn DALBY - buried in NZ.
Gilbert Howard is my Uncle's father. My Uncle is 83 years old and not keeping well and I would love to find out as much information as possible for him and my cousins. They do not have much information at all and I would like to produce a small booklet to him with his family history.
My Uncle and his parents came to NZ in 1949.
I have found some information on line e.g. Naval records etc but if anyone has any further detailed information, that would be greatly appreciated. I am happy to exchange updated family details of Gilbert Henry's family - one son (my uncle), he had 2 sons, 2 x grandsons and one great grandson.
If you can help in anyway, that would be awesome and appreciated. Kind Regards Sally Leeston, Canterbury, South Island, New Zealand

Looks like it probably was Mary Jane rather than Marianne (name on baptism mistranscribed perhaps?)
Marriage:

John Cann was a labourer, as was father James, and also William Cox. Both bride and groom signed their names, Witness William Cox made his mark, witness Elizabeth Sarah Gullett signed.
Looks like William James was 'premature'....

Hi Sally
It is unlikely that anyone with knowledge of the family will see your post, by just passing by.
Very few members of GR read the Boards.
You need to do a search of member trees yourself.
Go to Search (top right)
Click on Search, then click on Search All Member Trees
enter a name in to the search box, and click submit
If the name is in a tree on GR, the member's name will appear.
Click on the member's name, and send a message through GR's internal messaging system.
Repeat as many times as necessary, so you contact all members who have the name in their trees
You can watch to see if the messages have been opened or not ................
Click on Messages, click on Sent Messages
If there is a green envelope to the left of the name, the message has not been opened
If there is no envelope, the message has been opened.
good luck

Do you have access to the public trees on Ancestry.co.uk? At least one of them has photos, the marriage cert of Laura Bunker and W. J. , and the newsclippings of his death, plus photos of W J and Laura and their children.

I've seen an image of the marriage safc posted above, and father John Westley Cann has had the last part of his middle name 'ley' croosed out and replaced with 'lake' ie John Westlake Cann.
Which supports my theory that John Cann is the son of James Cann and Margaret Westlake
