Find Ancestors

I am trying to find info on Joseph Harris and Jane Canning. They
would have married around 1878 but so far no luck. I found an 1878 marriage for Joseph Harrison and Jane Cannon but haven't followed up on that yet. They would have married in Liverpool (if they married at all) had 6 children John b 1879 (think he died fairly young) Mary Catherine born 1880 (married Patrick Farrell - they were my grandparents) Joseph abt 1883 Thomas 1886 Owen 1889 Jane 1894
I live in NZ so have to rely on the internet sites which can be very
frustrating.

i would get the Cannon marriage certificate, there is no sign of a Jane Canning b. liverpool

This will confirm the mothers maiden name

Please also say where you got the info about Jane's maiden name

This could be the baptism for John. The parents look to be the couple who got married in 1878. This time being called Harris and not Harrison.

Thank you all so much - I have a cousin who was working in the
UK and researching the same family. He obtained the birth certificates for Joseph and Owen which both showed his parents as Joseph Harris and Jane Canning. Joseph was born 4 May 1883 at 5 Ensor Place and Owen 26 March 1889 at 20 Molyneux Street, Bootle. I noticed in the 1911 census Jane was shown as married but on Mary Catherines marriage certificate her father Joseph was shown as deceased. Also
in the 1901 census Jane (Widow) and daughter Jane were both in the workhouse. I can't find any mention of Thomas so far - there are just so many records to trawl through. Thanks again Barbara
