Wonder if he is Gerald Dixon Bamforth.

Looks like he married in 1945.

I'm assuming he's no longer with us, but his wife may be so will send by PM

It took so long to get that message posted, this site freezes constantly for me! Sorry. So, the 1911 one is correct and so is 1901, he's a product of Joe and Emily. So he's Harry Dixon Bamforth? And was his mothers maiden name Coles? Your'e all brilliant, thanks so much!!

Suzanne

Suzanne Report 23 Mar 2011 22:55

Again I seem to have hit a delay with this thing...

Mike * Report 23 Mar 2011 22:59

No.
He married Coles.
That was Gerald's mother's maiden name.

This looks like Harry's parents marriage

Marriages Mar 1889 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

>>>>>Bamforth Joseph Edwin - Huddersfield 9a 447
>>>>>Dyson Emily - Huddersfield 9a 447
Grimstone John Huddersfield 9a 447

Working off the fact that he had a son Gerald.

There's a birth for Gerald with mother's mn Coles. and a marriage for Harry D Bamforth to Miss Coles.

Harry D was born in Huddersfield ( as per poster's info) albeit a year different but that's par for the course with census data.

Or have been mislead ?

Suzanne

Suzanne Report 23 Mar 2011 23:20

That's all correct I think.
Here's what I know for sure:

He was 12 on the 1911 census listed with my GG Gprts as 'adopted'
He was 02 on the 1901 census listed with his parents, the only Harry D I could find matched the Birth record for him.

Mike*, on this marriage record, who are John and Elizabeth?

>>>>>Bamforth Joseph Edwin - Huddersfield 9a 447
>>>>>Dyson Emily - Huddersfield 9a 447
Grimstone John Huddersfield 9a 447
Redfearn Elizabeth Huddersfield 9a 447

the marriage records you have seem more detailed than anything I've found searching this site...

Mike * Report 23 Mar 2011 23:27

John and Elizabeth are just the other marrying couple who share the same page on the record.
Sorry, should have editted them out to avoid confusion.

Suzanne

Suzanne Report 23 Mar 2011 23:27

So I now have all his info and can build a record for him, and I should now be able to find out what happened to his parents and sister, possibly... I'm amazed, thanks so much everyone.

Suzanne Report 23 Mar 2011 23:29

Oh, I see, where are you getting your marriage records if you don't mind me asking?

Always check on freebmd for certificated records from 1837 to about 1945 ( not all transcribed yet )

Just to toss in my belated two cents here -- has anyone mentioned a second marriage for Gerald and the fact that his wife is still on the electoral roll in 2011? It seems Gerald himself has died, between 2008 and the present.

Oh, interesting. I'd love to know more Janey!
Thanks Mike, for the link.

Hi I’m very late to this but Harry Dixon Bamforth is my great grandad , I’m too trying to find out more

I have found he was married to Agnes Hilda Cole , his mum was Emily Bamforth ( but I’ve found her under the name Elizetta Bamforth nee/ lodge too, his dad was Joe Bamforth , he had a sister Emily , was adopted by Henry RB bull and Sarah Ann haighs ?

There’s more children that Joe and Elizetta had later on

I’ll add we have found our dna has significant African dna my dads %13 so we think he may have been mixed race ??

Sad to see he wasn’t well liked
He went on to have children. My nanny Phyllis, Edna , Muriel , Gerald and Eugene who later changed his name to ramsden !
But I’m not sure if the siblings had the same dad Eugene’s great granddaughter doesn’t share the African dna ?!!! Agnes Cole was my great grandmother ( got sentenced to prison for man slaughter as she did illegal abortions with her new husband Thomas Shamen ) she also had a brothel and used the girls , they ran away to one to America (mureal) and my lovely nan who luckily ran away too, I think the boys went with Harry . Not the most proud of the ancestry I’ve found .

I would love to know why Harry was adopted , I think Agnes is a dodgy character and I’m not entirely sure all her children were from same dad based on dna

Anyway if anyone as any more info I’d love to know
Thanks
Sinead
