Just purchased £3.32 from Amazon for my Kindle
The Scandalous Duchess, by Anne O 'Brien.

It tells the story of Katherine de Swynford the mistress
of John, Duke of Lancaster and their affair that rocked England.

Anyone read it?

Emma :-)

I am now reading Lionheart by Sharon Penman 10% in and it is well written, I am starting to enjoy it. Have read books around the same time by Elizabeth Chadwick so it is interesting to read stories around the same historical characters. Also read Here Be Dragons by Sharon Penman and enjoyed it so it should be a good read. Another one from Greaders. :-)

Yes I got it for 99p .Bargain :-D...I too am a bit puzzled about the last chapter.Maybe just a totally different family with the same names??....I did find if I woke in the night I had to read a bit more ,so to me that is a good book :-D

I'll keep my eye open for it going down, maybe they suddenly realised how popular it could be with genealogists.

Glad you enjoyed The Marriage Certificate, Jane.

I found the beginning chapters rather amateurishly written, although the style did develop throughout the book. It's easy for us to criticize when we couldn't do any better.

The story line was a good example of how we can all take the 'Wrong Turn' with our FH research. Although I could see it coming, the last chapter was puzzling and I'm still wondering about the Ince/Price conundrum - at first I'd assumed that it was an error when/if the book was digitalised. Now I'm not so sure!

Just finished Warpaint and put my review on the Genes book club thread. The Sealed Letter sounds interesting. Might give that one a try.

Just finished the Sealed Letter by Emma Donague. Based on a true court case of divorce in the 19th century I found it a very readable book, very enjoyable and informative of the era. :-)

Lol Det you are supposed to read it first. Gosh you read Citadel quickly, yes agree it would be confusing without the first books.

Finished Citadel the other day. If you hadn't read the other books in the series, you wouldn't know who she was talking about when the Army appeared.

Started Warpaint last night but had to stop then because of the small print v our stupid energy saving light bulbs. Ann, your review has been a great help :-D

Thanks for that and apologies for being too lazy to look it up myself Det.

Citadel I liked very much but I think it will be very different to Warpaint. (except for the WW link. :-)
