Afternoon all looking in.

Its been overcast and windy all day but have to say the kept kept off and I did get 2 large bath sheets almost dry so only needed 5 minutes to air off in the dryer.

i have been busy spring cleaning lol. Dusted and polished everywhere, vacuumed throughout, ironing and now having a well earned cuppa. The dust collects on a daily basis, its incredible really and there's only me here just now!

The roads are quiet here today so either people away on holiday as schools broke up last week or....glued to Wimbledon :-P Cant stand it soooo boring but each to their own.

I managed out to the bin but wasn't that warm as the wind was cold so I didn't stay out more than 5 minutes for fresh air and then went back inside.

So now having a chill for an hour and then to sort my evening meal but no idea what to have tonight?

Hope everyone well and ok today

I haven't been watching the election coverage - it's too repetative.

OH and I are about to watch Channel 5. It's a proramme called Motorway Madness - Hell on the Highway and is dash-cam footage of very bad driving from all over the world. No commentary, and fascinating/horrifying in equal parts. They say noone was seriously hurt in any of the incidents - makes you wonder how they got away with it! :-S

Yes tv is dire at the moment, all sport or repeats .

Have to agree with you Linda about the election coverage on BBC today so much of it was pointless .

Been a lovely day here so have been in the garden tidying and dead heading the roses etc. One of those £2 roses I 'rescued' from Poundland has got quite big and has very pretty white flowers. The other one has a bud on so well pleased with my bargain.
The cucumbers and radishes are doing well also the carrots and caulflowers. The tomato plants have some good flowers as well.
Just starting to rain now .

Hope Joan is ok and also Sylvia and her hubby.

Take care all.

Afternoon all

Not a fab day at all, windy, misty and showery!

Anyway I have been busy making the 2nd batch of jam, this time strawberry and I got 7 jars( larger size).. All worked out very well and jolly tasty.

I turned on the TV awhile ago and on BBC1 and 2 was tennis with footie on ITV. Grrrrrr cant wait for all of it to end so we can get back to the usual soaps and other programmes etc.

Not sure what is on later? I have just finished watching a very old episode of Morse. And now Heartbeat is on.

Well, finely a sunny day, but windy. I have a line full of washing out so hopefully it will dry.
I like watching Wimbledon, but BBC 1 is just full of totally pointless coverage of the election. :-|

I get it, if you buy things every month, then yes you probably save. Of all the things I have bought recently, I got free delivery. Or if you spend over £35 you get free delivery anyway.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 4 Jul 2024 19:20

I have Prime and use Amazon all of the time. We definitely save a lot of money on delivery and it really is worth having.

We had a nice day out. We went to vote in the middle of the day, then came out of the polling station to catch the bus into Harrogate. The buses are every half hour, but we timed it perfectly and only had two minutes to wait. It only took twenty five minutes to get to Harrogate, which was good going. We did some shopping, then went to an art gallery. After that we went to the Majestic hotel for afternoon tea using a voucher my daughter gave me for my birthday. It was very nice, but I dread to think of how many calories it was .
We only had seven minutes to wait for the bus on the way back. It took a lot longer to get back because the traffic is horrendous in rush hour, but driving wouldn’t have been much better.

AnninGlos Report 4 Jul 2024 15:20

I do have Amazon Prime and a lot of things I have ordered I would have had to pay postage if I had not had Prime. I use it a lot at Christmas as Son's family all have wish lists on there so I usually get my money back.

Florence61

Florence61 Report 4 Jul 2024 13:26

Linda, i refuse to pay for Amazon Prime because most of the time, things I order are free delivery anyway. Also if you are paying a monthly fee, you would need to be spending quite a bit to get your monies worth as most paid deliveries are only say £4.99 or less.

How many people regularly spend say £100 a month on Amazon? Not many unless you have moved house like yourself and need many new things but the majority dont order every month..

I usually wait until I need several items and then get free delivery anyway.

So Tesco been & gone and no subs which was great. I'm just waiting on the mixed berry fruits to defrost and later will be making some jam. I shall leave the strawberry jam until tomorrow as a much larger quantity.

Amazon deliver pretty quickly as if I order on a Mon, sometimes its here on Tues and mostly by Wednesday so really no need to pay extra.(this paragraph has jumped :-S :-S)

Just waiting on my pal to come for coffee and we have some nice goodies, diet out the window today lol

Enjoy your afternoon tea Linda

It is sunny here Florence, but very windy, so feels chilly when you go out. I went to get weighed at Slimming World, one pound off this week, but still in my target range. We are going to vote straight after lunch, then having an adventure by getting the bus into Harrogate . We are having afternoon tea in the Majestic hotel, using a voucher my daughter gave me for my birthday. That will put the pound back on :-(

I had ordered a new ceramic bread-bin from Argos to collect at the Sainsbury’s local store near where the slimming class is. It was supposed to be there to collect after ten, I didn’t go until quarter past, but it took them nearly twenty minutes to bring it out. There was another woman with a very tetchy toddler waiting for her parcel as well. Apparently their hand set wasn’t working whatever that means. As I walked back to the car I got an email confirming that I had collected it, but now I have just had another email telling me that my order is ready to collect. Seems like their systems are well and truly messed up.
I checked Evri and it is still saying that my parcel is delayed and they will let me know when it is out for collection - never is my guess :-|. It is some new table mats which I ordered from Wayfair because they were the only ones I could find which I liked. Annoyingly after I had ordered them, I discovered them on Amazon, so could have got them the next day on free Prime delivery. I had looked on Amazon, but they didn’t show up until I entered their exact name in the search.

Morning all

Sat here waiting for Tesco watching the rain pour down and my plants being battered! It's relentless isn't it? We always use to say blame it on Wimbledon lol

It may keep the voters away too as who would want to turn out in this weather if you didn't need to?

Got a friend coming later for coffee and catch up so looking forward to some company for an hour as daughter won't be back until next week.

I tel the furniture store today and finally they have what I ordered and is being assembled for me. But will be next week before they deliver. Lady said there had been a problem with a courier :-S Not sure I believe that but hey ho at least they have it now.

Hope everyone is well and ok today

I took the parcel to the house where it should have been delivered, so no hungry cats.

They had been notified that it had been delivered, but having inspected all the outside area immediately next to their house, they wondered just where it was .

Florence61

Florence61 Report 3 Jul 2024 20:12

Oh Gwyn, that made me chuckle :-D :-D Someone's cat will be hungry tonight.
What did you do with it?

ArgyllGran, Temu is ok for the likes of what you ordered ie a rug and for my crafty things was ok but for the clothes, they are shabbily and cheaply made and not worth the money as I recently found out.

Gwyn in Kent

Gwyn in Kent Report 3 Jul 2024 19:02

Goodness ArgyllGran, that will be a well-travelled rug!
I hope it arrives soon and is just what you want.

I had a delivery today, - 40 sachets of Whiskas left on the front doorstep , ...I don't have a cat. :-S
Presuming it was for my next door neighbour, I was just about to take the box round to her, but when I checked the address it was for someone 3 doors away in the other direction.
I wonder why they chose to deliver to me.?
Our names and house numbers are nothing like each other, the only thing in common is the name of our street :-S

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 3 Jul 2024 18:18

Good luck with your deliveries, Linda! I hope they don't go via wherever the hawthorn went.

Fingers crossed, I've never had any bother with Evri, nor with their previous existence as Hermes.
Perhaps it depends on the local couriers who drive the Evri vans. I believe they are all self-employed.

But I agree that Amazon are amazingly quick.

I'm currently waiting for a delivery from Temu. Yes, I know ! But that was the only place I found a rug for the kitchen in just the right colours.
I just hope it turns out to be of usable quality.
It was ordered on 26th May, and has been travelling overland from China ever since, via Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Poland, Germany and Belgium.
Apparently it has arrived in the UK today!

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 3 Jul 2024 17:56

I used t make lots of jam when we had the allotment. I had a very large fruit cage with lots of Raspberries and Blueberries. I do miss them.

I have been ordering lots of new stuff for the kitchen this week. I nearly feinted a couple of days ago when Evri act delivered something on time, but running true to form, I got a notification that something they were supposed to be delivering today was delayed. They will let me know when it is out for delivery - guess I won’t be seeing that then :-(
Amazon are usually much more reliable, but silly. I was expecting two things to be delivered tonight. The first thing just arrived, but the second item is still out for delivery, presumably with a different courier
