Morning all,

Well I think its morning its so dark out there ,it is raining so the clouds are really dark ,I expect it will be lights on all day .

Ann have a lovely look round all the Christmas decorations today do you need anything new this year ,we looked round our QD store the other say and they had a pretty little church with all the glitter floating round inside and all lit up ,I had a look at all the boxes but they were all sold out ,they put letters on each item they have on the shelf so you know which box to look for there was another couple that wanted one too .

A day for inside jobs ,I need to clean the oven shelves , I've stripped the bed so that needs making and I need to hoover round upstairs and if I get time make two more Christmas puds .

Morninganing,

Dull old morning here pc says 5 degrees and mostly cloudy.

Now I wonder if Stu is coming to me tonight or not??? I think I will cook anyway and if he's not coming it can go in the freezer raw for another day.

Hope you all slept well. I went to bed and slung my wheat bags in bed and instead of putting one on my knees one on my hip and one on my back I had them all as I threw them in on my back and it was lovely.

Have a lovely day out tomorrow Annx. I would love to go to Launston to the garden centre that has lots of lovely Christmas decs but the parcel is still on its way as I had a message about "Just missed you "again today. This means another day of staying in so I am frightened to go out as its Evri or something like that and they may not know where I am or they're knocking on the potting shed door.

Afternoon All,

Just wrote a post and OH came in before I posted it and whooosh it went!

Very cold this morning and OH had to scrape the car screen before we set off for his blood test. The traffic was awful and was a continuous mile queue from the next village, luckily coming the opposite way although it was bad enough and crawling the way we were going. The fields are like huge lakes either side again and more rain expected tomorrow. We then went for a coffee at Costa and also to Curry's near there to look at Dyson's new, very expensive hard floor hoover/washer. That was a no no as soon as I lifted it, as it's too heavy for me.

The boiler man came yesterday, but none of the seals worked so he is fitting a new tap on Thursday. He apologised again (just wish he would let us know when he can't come though) and he has lost his helper at the moment as the poor man's mother has died unexpectedly, so he is trying to do everything himself.

Vera, OH had a migraine start while he was in the shower yesterday and had to lie down till the flashing lights stopped. No headache like he used to have though, but he does take migraine tablets as soon as one starts. He felt washed out afterwards as usual and went straight to bed after he got home from his meeting. Yes I have OH's number in my phone under ICE too.I'm glad your photo worked this time. I had more IT trouble yesterday using my new credit card to pay on the PC and it being declined twice. Then the card provider txted to contact their fraud, but I wasn't pressing anything on my phone in case it was a scam so rang a seperate number for them. What a game getting through their security, sometimes it feels more like their money than mine! Anyway it was ok and they unblocked my card and I have realised what the problem was. My name and address autofill on sites, but for some reason have stopped autofilling my phone number which isn't visible on screen without scrolling further down than the 'PAY' instruction, so was why my payment was rejected! Hopefully it will be ok now.

Have you still not had your parcel Mel? The camera I returned arrived on the second attempt but they didn't try over the weekend. It sounds like they can't find you? I have clothes on the airer too and need to do the bedding next.Thank you for posting the seeds which should arrive soon.

That's a nuisance about your garage roof leaking AnnG, but good you have spotted it now and Jake is coming to sort it. I remember visiting Bourton on the Water a long time ago and enjoying it. It sounds like you have had a lovely day and meal there. Nice when somewhere has individual shops these days too. I think I would have backache with all that wrapping of presents, but it must look very Christmassy where they are.

It does sound like those extra rooms at your surgery might be for more staff Mandy. Won't the waiting room be a bit small or have they also built on? I think we have about 6 doctors but most work part time. I suppose they can afford to and reducing their hours probably keeps them under the 40% tax bracket. Did you get to see the Christmas tree yesterday?

I'm getting showered now to save me being up at 7.00 am in the morning as we plan to go early to the garden centre in Rutland that has the great Christmas displays, plus a nice breakfast with the cosy log burners in the restaurant.

That sounds a lovely day out Ann and the weather was kind to you too.
I've only been to Bourton-on-the-Water once many years ago and remember it as a pretty little place. I don't suppose it is ever really quiet, because it is so popular, but I can imagine that later in the year like this it would be less crowded, so easier to get around.
Lunch sounds good too, although at the moment I am trying to steer clear of such delights until after my blood test next week ;-)

Vera, I hope you've managed to have a quiet day to give your head a chance to feel better.

Mel, I hope your aches and pains have eased too.
Lovely to get the washing outside for a while even if you had to finish it off indoors.

Mandy, I wonder what they have planned with all the building work at your doctors. Time will tell, I guess. We have many rooms at our GP surgery. Normally the extra ones are used by nurses for blood tests, blood pressure checks etc.

Annx, I hope the boiler man came and completed the work to your satifaction.
You mentioned the Patient Alert Card, which I wrote about recently. There is one in every packet of my blood thinners. When I was first handed my tablets when they were newly prescribed, the doctor solemnly said
"There's no antidote to these" so I was rather concerned when some months later, I cut my finger gardening in the church garden. :-0 Nobody was around, so I just quickly went inside, grabbed some kitchen tissue and bound it round the finger and sat down with my arm in the air. Luckily it soon stopped.

I keep meaning to post that the week before last, I saw those narcissus had started to bloom. I don't know the type, but they look like Paperwhites. I wonder how they stood up to the storm? I'll walk that way later this week. In another garden, their narcissus buds are starting to form. I know that plant often flowers early with clusters of bright yellow blooms.

I will ead the posts later. Just got home.

Had a lovely day out in Bourton on The water. Left here at 0940 and got home at 3.15. Although came home via Norton garden centre to see if they had any 4 foot trees. they didn't but I was able to get bird food as I remembered I was out of it. Must have gone in every shop in Bourton. Lots to see and a few presents bought. Quite busy there but not uncomfortable so. car park was 6.50 for 4 hours. Ann Paid and I bought coffee. The I bought us both a very nice fish and chip lunch, so that paid for her taking me. We both really enjoyed it and the sun shone all day and there was no wind at all.

Did one load of washing and put it out. Have just taken it in as it has'nt dried much but it does smell good its now on the airer in the hall infront of one of the rads.

Suns gone now and it feels really chilly out. had a bit of a tidy up and then got lunch after the shopping arrived as there was quite a bit today it took longer toput it all away and I did'nt have lunch till after two o'clock.

That thing about muted under the title of W K O T D Y R hads gone now but I did take a pic of it.

Good morning ladies

It's a lovely bright day but quite cold. At least that dreadful wind has dropped and now there is just a breeze. We had 2 plants in plastic pots blown over and roll around the garden but we seem to have got away lightly with no other damage.

I am sorry you all seem to have backache and hope the aches and pains go away very soon. I am very impressed with all this present wrapping. I haven't bought a single present yet!! I haven't had the incentive of a deadline this year as we probably won't see family until after Christmas. I might be giving them all vouchers or money this year as it will work out far too expensive to post loads of parcels all round the country. Son may (or may not!) be moving house Christmas week and daughter has her problems this year so I think Christmas may be a bit of a non-event. It will seem very strange if OH and I are on our own. It will be the first time since we were born that we haven't been surrounded by family over Christmas.

My head is still not right so I am not going to spend much time on the computer. Methinks it's time for a cup of coffee and a quiet sit down. Enjoy your trip out AnnG and everyone else enjoy your day.

Morning all,

I got up three times in the night for the bathroom and feel thorougherly dehydrated this morning so I am drinking like crazy. I had a meal for one Lasagne last night and think it could have been that and I had broccoli too.

Still have my back ache it must be too much sitting I think as with the weather being so bad Iv'e not been out much to walk about.

Enjoy your outing Anng.

good morning all. Set the alarm to get up early as being picked up at 0930. Then had to re-set it when it went off an hour early as it was in a drawer when the clocks went back. so dozed for an hour.

Mandy, back still a bit sore. Have two more lots of presents to wrap (each person's presents are in a carrier bad (wrapped). I usually buy several small presents each. Probably inexpensive little useful things for the Grandsons and they get money as well. Seems to go down well.

Evening all,

It's been quite a nice day today so we went out and did a bit of Christmas shopping .
Rang up this morning to get some logs delivered this week and they can deliver on Thursday.
Dropped the prescriptions into the box at the doctors ,the builders are working and I could see through the windows today looks like there's going to be four new rooms but who's going to use them I don't know, they have taken half the waiting room on one side to build them ,we only have two doctors now ,used to be five or six at one time perhaps we're going to have more nurse practitioners.

Vera I shouldn't think its helped your head with all the trouble trying to get your photo excepted but I see your all sorted now and I hope your head will be better tomorrow.

Ann hope you've heard from the boiler chap today and that he came and sorted your leaky tap for you, I thought it odd that he worked on a Sunday but as the tap was leaky thought he was fitting you in quicker.

Oh Anng you've been busy having a wrapping day ,how's your back now ,I find I get a back ache when I'm wrapping presents, it's all the leaning over .
Hope they can patch your roof and stop the water coming in .

Mel I wonder if they are trying to deliver your parcel to somewhere else ,can't be coming with the postman or he would find you OK, must be a parcel company and they don't come down your drive .

I love Bourton on the water and have been there in the past years ago. They used to have a perfumery shop there and I bought a tiny bottle of Lily of the Valley and I still have it. I also like the miniature village with the miniature village in it.

Iv'e been waiting in for a parcel to be delivered. They said it was coming last week twice and I had a message to say an attempt was made and now Iv'e just had another. Have contacted the seller and she's going to look into it. She has also waited 5 days for a parcel to be delivered to her!!

Hope you feel better and more with it tomorrow Vera. Em came today and she had one yesterday too and dos'nt feel completely right today.

Vera yes I remember you saying about the problems with getting your photo accepted etc but pleased that you have succeeded now. I haven’t tried that yet.
Sorry you lost a day to a migraine yesterday, they are such a nuisance for you.

I have just wrapped one of the largest lots of presents, gt granddaughter’s only three lots left to wrap now. And the front office looks like Santa’s grotto.

I have had to contact Jake to come and look at my garage flat roof. I have been waiting for rain as I thought some of the brick work looked wet. And, sure enough it has been leaking in one corner.they are coming on Thursday.

Tomorrow my friend is taking me to Bourton on the water. She takes a wreath to her Mum’s grave and then we can look round the shops.

Afternoon all

I can't respond to yesterday's posts as, of course, most of them are missing. I expect most of us can remember the days of Estelle and Phil and how smoothly everything ran then. We'll never get back to that now but even so it was good to see a post from Genes and find that we have a Community Manager.

Yesterday wasn't a good day for me as I had a really bad migraine and spent a good part of the day in bed. Today I just feel drained and heavy headed but I'm up and doing again. Beds are changed and 3 loads of washing done, tonight's dinner prepared and a few more Christmas cards written. I had another go at registering for this NHS portal that our local hospital has moved to. This time I sent a photo of my driving licence instead of my passport but I still had to send a video of me saying 4 numbers that were texted to me. I really haven't worked out the purpose of that but I have had an email saying that everything checked out and I am now registered. Just realised ny post where I said about the problems I had registering for this NHS Portal has disappeared so you probably don't know what I am talking about.

Going to stop as print is waving around in front of my eyes. Probably back tomorrow.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 23 Nov 2024 18:23

I'm saying the same as Vera Anng. <3

Well its been so dark today I think my solar meter is going backwards.

Not done a thing after going to the shop and its been really windy with lashing rain. Even the chickens hav'nt been out today they have just stayed in the house when I went to corn them early. I did throw sme in their house and there was plenty of very wet pellets when I went round so they won't go hungry.

I shall have to get some pics together of the things I have been making and send some.

I have been putting a Tudor feast together and a lot of things for a Tudor still room like meats and sausages and cheeses in cloths and sausages etc and have been enjoying doing that. I have made two plates of fish one a carp and one a salmon both dressed with veg and lemon slices but I am fancying making another Tudor doll but not a posh one perhaps a peasent one.

Thats a good idea to cut off the address I had'nt thought of that and the doctors name would help in ase of a mishap.
