The roads are fine here now, apart from some of the side roads, but a couple of colleagues have to travel in from the Notts area and they had a lot of problems with the ice. They said around 50 different accidents and they were mainly on the estates trying to get to the main roads.

Maz, I missed that bit you slipped in about your frog staying over. Thanks to Aunty we've all noticed it now......lol

DET, these window cleaners are made of sturdy stuff aren't they? Or maybe it's just that they aren't a full shilling.

The special bus managed to get to us today to pick my son up ..........YIPPEE!!

5 minutes later it started snowing again, but it didn't stop me going out. It was a bit scary driving on the ice but once I got to the main road it was OK.

Maz!!!!! You are an Aquarian. A real time Nutter like someone else who shall be nameless.

Next time your frog stays over could I suggest you also invite a few Cyber Pets. Just so the spare room is already taken.

Great to see you are all managing to defy the odds and keep on top of your weather. Only about two months to go isn't it. Tee Hee!!

Bet your son was laying awake in bed, listening for footsteps and ready to leap to defend your honour - lol! It's a bit like when OH and I go out for a meal.

Resident offspring are sitting next to each other on the settee, with arms folded, when we get back.

* And what time do you call this then??*

10.30???

LOL

Glad Pauline has escaped the cabin. About time too!

Maz! Shoosh! Yes me, not the same day but near enough. It's a secret.

YG. About petunias. Whenever we were unhappy about our lot in life or bothered about something my Mum used to jokingly sing this little song to us. I knew the chorus and had actually forgotten how the song started. I googled it to see if it existed.

And that is the story of how "petunia" crept into our family's vocabulary as a term of endearment, along with "prarie flower" which is of course another story.

I'M A LONELY LITTLE PETUNIA IN AN ONION PATCH

Of all the saddest words
That I have ever heard
The saddest is the story
Told me by a bird
He had spent about and hour
Chatting with a flower
and here ís the tale the flower told

I'm a lonely little petunia in an onion patch,
an onion patch, an onion patch

I'm a lonely little petunia in an onion patch
and all I do is cry all day

Boo hoo, boo hoo

The air ís so strong it takes my breath away

I'm a lonely little petunia in an onion patch,
oh won't you come and play with me

Who put me in this bed?
I'll bet his face is red
I call him down with every teardrop that I shed
If I only had him here
I'd take him by the ear
And make him share my misery

I'm a lonely little petunia in an onion patch,
an onion patch, an onion patch

I'm a lonely little petunia in an onion patch

and all I do is cry all day

Boo hoo, boo hoo

The air ís so strong it takes my breath away

(Feee-you!)

I'm a lonely little petunia in an onion patch,
oh won't you come and play with me

AuntySherlock

AuntySherlock Report 13 Jan 2010 21:28

Well if you wish to be "petunia" you will forever be in the onion patch. Or you could be another famous Petunia. Oh goodness no!! Really YG you don't wish to change your name now do you??!!!

YG

YG Report 13 Jan 2010 21:41

NO!!!

AuntySherlock

AuntySherlock Report 13 Jan 2010 22:36

What an excellent decision!

YG

YG Report 13 Jan 2010 22:55

I know and it didn't take me long to make it either, which is very unusual for me!

I was supposed to be working hard tonight, but somehow it didn't materialise. Oh well, there is always tomorrow.

It looks like everyone has gone into hiding tonight, so I am going to retire under the duvet now with a hot water bottle as there has been a further precipitation of the white granular stuff and the temperature leaves something to be desired!!

YG, I'm glad you decided not to be a petunia, because that would make all of us onions.

I don't want to be an onion!!

AuntySherlock

AuntySherlock Report 14 Jan 2010 00:40

Hi Pauline, And if you think very carefully about the most famous "Petunia" you will well understand why YG decided against the name change!!!??

Why aren't you in bed. Well you should be by the time I post this!!
