Hello Girls,
It's a lovely day here, blue sky with a few white clouds, I hope it will stay like that--and of course it's St. Davids day too.
Mo, congratulations to both you and Roly on your Wedding Anniversary. Are you doing anything special to celebrate? Like going out for a meal.
Jean, a Happy Birthday to D, hope she has a lovely day. Have you got anything planned to celebrate her Birthday?
Speak to you all later. Enjoy your day!

I was sorry to hear about your card being used, I only buy through Pay Pal that way you are on a secure site, and if anything is lost or not sold fairly, you are covered... but I know it is vitall that we are secure minded, D has had hr card cloned twice both she thinks at petrol stations, very upsetting....but you can never be too sure,I am going to try and print some pages off a c.d. I have, I will let you know if they are any good, Thanks for putting me right about Sylvia s anniversary, I had already had it in my book....

Mo, there are a lot of hairdressers near me but they just won't cut it as I like it. The hairdresser I always went to was always very good, as they are unisex, the four of us used it for years, but as time's gone by they have different staff and that's when the problem started. So of course we all stopped going there. One of my friend's and her family were the same, and they've also stopped going there.
Jean, I have bought a lot of stuff for scrapbooking off the internet, but since someone used my debit card details to buy a computer, I'm wary about sending for things now. The touble is, there are so many nice things that can only bought off the internet, some of which are cheaper than most craft stores.

Sallie I did notice a few 12x12s, but I always got mine off e-bay, much bigger choice, and better value, 8x8 is a better choice at our range I am inclined to use these now, if you buy mags their free offers are usually 8x8,you can do your own backgrounds, c.d.s are a good source or stamp a design and print bigger,I dont know how big you can print though. the smaller sizes are easier to print off....I am inclined to use plain colours 12x12 and add a smaller patterned ones on top or down the sides, the choice is endless as much as your imagination, and of course they are unique to you , just have a go, you may be surprised...our Range used to sell lots of 12x12 and albums, but stopped selling them, I asked why , the answer was not many people in this country do scrapbooking.. when I was in today I noticed a lot of ladies buying all the usual craft stuff, but no scrapbooking.. stickers and peel offs were very popular...

Hello all.Good to hear from you all. Marie, good for you, having a nice holiday with your friend. Even though the insurance does seem high, you do need cover like that when you go away. I dare say that the insurance is nearly as much ,as the price off the holiday. Good luck for tommorrow afternoon Liz. As you say a good haircut does stay in longer. Debbie, what grey hairs. You should do as I do,get a lovely colour from a bottle. You are lucky to have your family so close,so that you can all enjoy a good night out together. It is good news that Matthew has had a good outcome, from the osteopath. Good old Daniel, beating that Ollie. He did do well coming 77th out off 397 Julia was the jacket that you were making heavy. Only making it all in one piece, must have made it awkward to hold whilst knitting. I also like to do my crosswords, especially in my chat and take a break. I never send off for the competitions though. Sallie perhaps Julia will know off a good hairdresser close to you both. I am glad that Jennie is feeling better today. And I don't blame you for worrying, after all crohns is not an easy illness to control. Thank you for the good wishes for tommorrow's darts Sallie and Jean. But if I don't win Jean, can I give you an iou please for the tenner I will owe you. Bye for now everyone. Love Mo xxx

Mean't to ask you Jean, if the Range near you have a good choice of 12x12 paperh choice? There doesn't seem to be much choice at the Nottingham store, although the sell a lot of crafting things. The store itself is a good size, and is on two floors, so I'm sure that there is enough space to display more paper. Right, that's my mourning over!

Hi All,
Marie, lovely to hear from you and to know that you are alright. Hope all is well with your family. I'll be thinking about you on Wednesday and hope and pray that your results will be good. Best wishes and good luck. So pleased that you and your friend Barbara have finally booked a holiday in Italy, I can imagine how excited you are, it's something nice to look forward to.
Liz, talking about hair, I really need mine cut but don't know where to go to get it done, as the last couple of times I've had it cut, I haven't been too happy with it. They don't cut it as I like it, and cut it as they think it should look. Good luck for tomorrow! Hope all goes well for you, and as you said try and make an appointment for a different day, so that it doesn't clash with the Bank Holiday.
Julia, I bet you spent more today than you intended. I usually do that, just go for one or two things and end up buying a lot more, some of which I end up giving to Jennie and Michael. I'll have a look at that pattern of the jacket you are making a bit later on today, it sounds as though it's very complicated. I use to knit and crochet, but haven't done any , for a long while. I started scrapbooking about 18 months ago, and really enjoy doing it--now I'm going to try making cards, I really fancy doing that-- don't know how they'll turn out though. Jean and Ann are our experts on scrapbooking and cardmaking, they are both very good.
Ann, hope you are feeling better today, and that T hasn't picked it up off you. I've been watching Create and Craft, today they've been making cup cake cards, not too sure if I like them or not, I think that they might be nice for young women like Jennie. It looks as though you can only get the from Create and Craft though. Just wondered if you and Jean might know if you can buy them elsewhere.
Jean, sorry to hear about your neighbours making all that noise int he middle of the night--there's no thought for other people at all. Knowing what they are like, take care what you say to them, as they don't sound very nice at all. Have you done any more scrap pages? I'm on my own today, so have been watching Create and Craft, instead of getting on with things that need doing. Hope J and D are both okay.
Mo, hope you and your family are all alright. Jennie is better today, thank goodness, it was just one of her 'off' days yesterday, but I always think it's a start of another flare up, and start to worry that her new medication isn't working. That's me, mostly look on the black side--it's good that Jennie isn't like me in that way. I hope your team will have some good luck at darts tomorrow night, I'll be thinking about you and keeping my fingers crossed that you'll win.
Huia, hope your computer is now sorted, at least you know what to do to get it up and running. I have to rely on Alun, although he has shown me how to do certain things, but by the time I need to it, I've forgotten.
Sylvia, hope you and OH are both okay, and that you are feeling better.
Debbie, Daniel will be so proud of himself, please pass on my congratulations to him. Glad that you had a nice get together last night with your sisters and sister-in-law, it's great having a girls night out. I bet you all didn't stop talking, at least if you are like my family and friends. Hope Daniel has a good and safe journey home.
Marilyn, haven't seen you about for a few days. I hope everything is okay with you and your family.
Love and best wishes to you all. Sallie.xxx

Hello Sallie, I was over your way this morning. I only wanted some frozen chips from M & S, but ended spending £34 and that was only on food. Then we went down to Dunelm and spent another £12. I'm not safe to let out. You were asking about my knitting. If you Google 'Sirdar Yo Yo knitting patterns, and click on to the same, about fourth down, when you get into the site, it is the third jacket down, no. 9083, knitted in a dark pink/dark green colourways. It is the oddest thing I have ever knitted. It is done in two pieces, starting at the left cuff. When you get up to the shoulder, you increase for the back and front. After you have knitted so many rows, you start to shape of for the front neck and back. After a while you cast off for the centre back. This is all done from the yarn on the outside of the ball. Then you start the right half, using yarn from the centre of the ball. It is done like that to compliment the shadowing of the yarn on both sides. The trouble is, the yarn comes in one large ball at about £18., and the pattern says 1 ball for my size. I have the funniest feeling I will need another ball. Darn it. What are your hobbies/crafts, if you use Hobbycraft I do not think I have the time to take on anything else, particularly as the garden season will be soon upon us. I do like to do alot of breadmaking, cake making and baking, which I do mostly during the winter months when I cannot get outside, and a bit of 'Posh Nosh' cooking particularly for Saturday night's meal. Oh, and I do like to do crosswords to keep my brain going, jigsaws, when having a quiet moment from anything, and there is always one under the table cloth on the kitchen table. And I have an hour's reading when I go up to bed at night. So as you can see, I am always kept busy. I do not know how I find time to come on here, but then I am not on after 6.30 at night Just have to spend some time with the OH. Take Care and speak soon Julia in Derbyshire

Hi All, it has been good to catch up. Huia, you sound a lot more cheerful these days. I think that life is settling down in its own way for you and you are looking out for yourself more - remember that you are very important too, as well as the rest of the family. A new hair cut is what I need, but I'm scared that the next big chop will show rather too many grey hairs. Oh well, a sign of my age I suppose. My Dad was white before he was 30 and my brother too, so I am on borrowed time in that respect.
I went out for dinner (just to a Pasta House) last night with my 2 sisters and my sister in law. We don't go as a group very often so it was nice , but we all see each other individually on a very regular basis. I am so lucky to have a close family - simply can't understand these families who don't have much to do with each other. Mind you, living over here means that there isn't much distance between us at any time. The island is only 9miles x 5miles.
Matthew had a good result from the Osteopath. The muscles & the strain on the lower back seem to have sorted themselves out and more manipulation on Friday and again in 2 weeks' time should do the trick. Certainly Matthew played a full game of rugby yesterday and didn't feel a thing for the first time in almost a year. So maybe someting has clicked back into place.
I've checked Daniels running position on the website. He came in 77th in his race. 397 boys in his age group finished and he was the top Jersey Runner in all of the 10 categories that were represented by our runners. He will be over the moon as he also beat the lad he has never beaten before. It has always been a challenge for Daniel to beat him - he is from here and they train together, but Ollie is always just slightly ahead of Daniel. It is good to get such a positive result from such a huge event. Daniel is first year Under 15's so will have all of next season in that same age group. Things are looking good for him at the moment. Can't wait to collect him thisafternoon.
Pouring with rain here today and we had tremendous storms overnight - lots of damage and flooding, but I really feel for those suffering in Chile and the surrounding areas. It seems as though the weather is really getting its own back on everyone this year and the conditions are more extreme everywhere - don't know about Global Warming, it is very cold here today.
Hope you are all well. I can smell all those lovely Sunday Roast dinners from here. Not one for us today, we are too busy to appreciate the time it needs to enjoy. I'll do a big roast in the week, then you can all pop over for some:-)))

Huia, glad you got the computer sorted out. I have dozens of old black and white negatives from my childhood and before that, Mum and Dad had loads, so I would like to look at those and scan in what are relevant and get rid of the others. I wonder if there are museums or somewhere who would like the ones you have of the dam building etc.
A haircut too, I am glad your view isn't restricted now lol I am still trying to get used to the haircut I had last weekend when the Artistic director put right the poor cut I had earlier in Feb. I would definitely count him as a scissor happy chappie! Has anyone else noticed that a Hairdresser's inch is more than a real inch lol Mine is quite short, but it will grow soon enough and is such a good cut it will stay in shape for a good while yet so I don't mind too much.
Jean, I always feel sorry for the children of those single mothers who go out clubbing and come home and party - the mothers are spending money on themselves when the children might need things and the noise and variety of morons who think it is fun to make a lot of noise at that time of night/morning aren't really the kind you would want around your child, I wouldn't think. Can't do the little ones any good to hear lots of noise if they are in the house at the time, and be subjected to smoke and all sorts as well. Poor little mites!
Hope you will all be ok with the floods over here and all the rain, the snow in Scotland and the possibility of tsunamis in areas off Chile and beyond. I did feel for those poor people but more were lucky as the houses in Chile are built more able to withstand earthquakes. O.h.'s stepmum is worried as her brother is married to a Japanese lady and they live in Japan near the coast. Hope nothing reaches that far tho.
Happy Anniversary to Mo and Roly for Monday, just in case I forget to come on this thread or don't see anywhere else to add good wishes.
take care all
love Lizxx

We are both dipping into our Superannuation to pay for the trip. Now that we have made a booking I am feeling very excited about the Trip, the cost of Insurance for Barbara was about $400 but for me, because i am 70yrs it is over &700 so that was a bit of a shock, but it is an absolute necessity when travelling .I must close as I can hear the girls out side in the garden I should go and help. LOVE and ((((((((Hugs to you all. Marie from OZ.

My prayers go out to all the people of Chile. And also our good friends,in OZ and NZ,keep safe against the tsunami, that could be on it's way. Bless you all. Moxxx

Quick hi, everyone, just to let you know Mo and Sallie, I did a bit of scrapping this afternoon, but I was so tired, our neighbour, went clubbing last night until 3 then brought others back lots of noise and screaming until 6.30. she is a young single mum, and loves partying, we had very little sleep, and I was totally stressed out, I am going to contact her Landlord, but the folk she has as friends are not bothered if they cause trouble so we need to be careful. speak tomorrow...

Hi Huia,
Just seen your post, so thought I'd just say hello to you.
So pleased that your nephew have got the AVG installed for you and that your computer is now up and running. Shame that Phil was sleepy while you were visiting him, I'm sure it is a lot nicer for you seeing him more alert. It's awful about the earthquake in Chile, I feel so sorry for the people living there, hope there isn't too much loss of life.
Take care!

Hi All,
Frank, that's what my hubby Alun has told me to do, but I can't seem to get into doing it that way. I'm not too brilliant on computers, so I tend to stick to the way I know best. Thanks anyway!
Mo, we had another power cut this evening, it lasted for over two and a half hours. Alun had gone to the hall where they are having the show tomorrow, to help put some of the layouts up, so luckily he mssed the second power cut. I spent the time sitting by candle light, thinking what it must have been like for our ancestors, with no TV nor computers. I think that was probably a good thing, at least they had more time to talk to each other and perhaps to do a hobby that they liked to do. Mo, if I'd known earlier you could have come up for a roast lunch with us, today it was pork and sage and onion stuffing.
Well I'll say goodnight now, speak to you all tomorrow, if we don't have another power cut.
Love, Sallie.xxx

Hello all, I am back.
Yesterday I had a haircut, (was having trouble seeing where I was driving!), then went to visit Phil at lunch time. Tried to feed him, but he was rather sleepy so it took about an hour to get 10 or 12 spoonsful into him. I left him for the carers to finish feeding.
I took the computer to nephew, arriving at 1.15, didnt leave until 5.15. He is so very thorough and I had made the mistake of telling him I had just bought a negative scanner so he insisted on installing it and making sure it worked ok. He wasnt happy with the CD that was provided with it when he did a test run after installing, so he looked for another thing to install, but that wasnt doing what he wanted so he looked for yet another. I kept saying 'forget it' and 'I will have to go home soon'. He finally decided that it was the best we could do and I would have to just scan and save one neg at a time. That is probably all I need as I merely want to be able to see what the pictures are on Phils very old b&w negs. I doubt if I will want to save many as most are of the dams being built - pictures of bulldozers etc. Not all that interesting, but the occasional picture of other things.
When I arrived home at 6.15 and had dinner I put the computer back together and tried to connect to the internet but the computer said there was no dial tone, but I was getting it on the phone. Then I found that I hadnt pushed the little thingy far enough into the hole so after doing so I tried again and found no dial tone on the computer or on the phone. This morning I phoned nephew (after disconnecting the thingy from the computer) and he asked if I had it in the correct hole. When I looked at the back of the computer I found 2 different ones which hadnt looked so obvious so I plugged into one of those and EUREKA it worked.
I now seem to have 3 different AVG things scanning. The AVG 9 started at 9am which is when nephew had set it to scan, then another started about 9.15, then a third one a short time ago, so I am being well and truly scanned! No viruses would dare get in.
On 21 March we will have been married for 51 years, but there will be no celebration. We didnt even celebrate our 50th as the best man and bridesmaid are both dead and our flower girl was flying out to Myanmar early that morning and as Phil had no idea what the day was I decided it wasnt worth bothering.
I am told that Chile had a big earthquake and a tsunami is expected here in NZ, not sure what time but I wont see it where I am and my sister and Phils sister are both high enough up to be unaffected and our children too far inland. I would like to see a good one from a decent height, provided nobody is going to get hurt or lose too much. Likewise, with tornado. I would also like to feel a 'decent' earthquake. I have felt several small ones and have seen Ruapehu and Ngaruahoe erupting. Even flew over Ruapehu while it was erupting and took loads of photos.
Time I did some h*******k.
Huia.
