Hi again ladies,
Debbie, so sorry to hear about your father-in-law, it was nice for your hubby to be there at the end, and knowing that he passed away peacefully. My thoughts are with all! Hope that Daniel will soon feel better and back to his normal self. I hope that Linda is enjoying herself despite it being cold, and that the hotel they are staying in is nice and warm.
Mo, hope your team will win the darts match tonight. It's been lovely here today, but it's gone a bit colder now. Richard, seems to have done alright in the first interview, so we'll have to wait and see how he gets on in the next one. I'm not too sure when that will be, but I'll let you all know when I hear. Thank you for asking! A technician from Virgin is coming tomorrow, between 12pm and 2pm to hopefully sort our phone out. They told Alun, that if he can't get an answer, they will charge us £10 for wasting their time. So we weren't too happy about that, considering that we've been without the phone and internet all over the weekend. I just hope that he won't call earlier, and will stick to the times that Virgin have told us.
Marie, so glad that your results were good. Now you can really look forward to your holiday later on in the year, knowing that all is clear and you don't have to worry. Hope all is well with your family. Thank you for asking about Richard's interview, we're all keeping our fingers crossed for him. I'm feeling better since I started seeing the therapist. It's amazing how much deeper she's gone into things, so much more than all the others I've seen in the past.
Ann, you sound as though you had a great weekend. I bet it was nice not having to think about what to make for the next meal, and nicer still, not having to cook it. So, did you buy anything special at Hobbycraft, or things to add to your stash? My problem is, as I'm sure your's is, and that's buying things because I really like them and they might come in handy for something I might be doing at a later date.
Jean, are you doing more scrapbooking now? I find that when I haven't done any srapbooking for a while, it isn't easy getting back into the swing of things, so it's probably the same with making cards. D is doing really well, I'm really pleased for her, and I'm sure that both you and J are very proud of her. Please give her my very best wishes. Is the craft shop in Llandudno in the middle of the town? Alun and I go sometimes go up to Alyson's in Holywell, so thought perhaps that next time we go for a couple of days, we could have a trip up to Llandudno. It's a long time since we've been there, so would make a nice change to go there.
Julia, is eveything alright with you , we haven't heard from you for a few days. I hope you're not having stomach problems again. Alun is going on about us moving to a bungalow, he keeps saying that the house is now too big for just the two of us, and it would be easier to keep clean with it being all on one floor. Jennie and Michael told us that there a few bungalows for sale in Langley Mill and of course, we would be near them. I know a bungalow would be nice as we're getting older, but I like living in Ilkeston, there are so many people I know and most of my friends live here, I would feel completely lost. There doesn't seem to be many bunglows for sale around this area.
Liz, how did you get on today? I hope that all went well with Counsellor. Did you manage to get the car for the day?
Huia, how are things with you? I hope that you are okay and that Phil is now alright after his fall out of bed.
Sylvia, it's all been happening where you live. Do you watch the programme they were filming? I would have thought that the TV company would have let the residents know that they would be filming beforehand, so that at least you would all know what to expect.
Marilyn, I hope you and OH are having a lovely holiday, in Oz and NZ. Take care!
Well, I'm going to have a nie cup of tea now, so I'll speak to you all tomorrow.
Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Evening Ladies, thought I would pop in before I start getting the children into bed - the younger 2 anyway, although Daniel came home poorly from school today so won't be late to bed.
Remember Linda who was asking about Jersey? Well, she was due to arrive yesterday. I really hope she brought her thermals with her - it is like the frozen wastes of Siberia here at the moment. The easterly blasts are more than we should be having at this time of the year.
Our weekend was hectic, but the main feature was the sad news of my F-in-L passing away on Friday afternoon. Hubby was with him and he just slipped away holding hubby's hand. All very peaceful and not totally unexpected, but somewhat earlier than originally thought. Probably a blessing in disguise.
Hubby is fine and feels at peace about the whole thing. He is glad his dad in no longer in an "Existing State", and he has been reunited with his wife who died 9½ years ago. Unfortunately hubby doesn't get on too well with his brother & sister, but they have at least managed to be civil to each other and discussed the way forward. Funeral probably next Tuesday and then we can look to the future. We are in a state of limbo at the moment.
The children took the news well, and have not been too upset because we warned them, and they had a few tears when we told them last week that there wasn't much longer to have their Pops with us.
Other than that we have had various football & rugby matches over the weekend, all in arctic conditions. There should be some sort of award for the parents, for standing around in such cold winds. Thankfully our Pound Shops here sell thermal hats, gloves & scarves by the ton, so they are very popular places.
I'll leave you here, cos it is about time the children were in bed. I hope you are all well, and I'll pop back tomorrow.
Take care.

Hi Everyone,
Well, I'm back at last! Thank you all for asking, I'm feeling much better now. We've had a problem with both the phone and the internet all over the weekend, as you all can see we've got the internet back, but for some reason the phone still isn't working. So Alun is still trying to get through to Virgin to let them know that we're still without the phone.
I haven't got time to answer all your postings at the moment, we have to go out, so speak to you all later on this evening.
Love, Sallie.xx

Mo, I knew there was a word to describe you job title, mm Scrubber very good title,.... D shares our home, she owns a third of it, so there is always someone in residence,we had it made over to her so she had a home if we had to go in a home ...
We would love to go back to Lake Garda, loved being there, or a river cruise, but the insurance is a killer for J, we should just pack the bags and go...stop dithering...life is too short... then why dont we ????

Hello all, it is a beautiful day here, blue skies and brilliant sunshine. I ahve been for a 2+ mile walk around the village and now feel all virtuous. Oh yes I also did a load of washing and dusted.
We had a lovely weekend with daughter and family. Grandson didn't have a party, just a family meal out for 8 of us. we went to a Fusion restaurant. In case you don't know that is where they serve, Thai, chinese and japanese food. It was very busy, very popular and the food was excellent. we thoroughly enjoyed it. Friday we called to see my sister and went out to a Harvester for lunch with her (her treat), staurday we went to the very large M&S super store at Hedge end and Sunday we went to Hobbycraft so i have had a good spend up!!!
I have read through all the posts but there are too many to answer individually. I am pleased your tests were negative Marie. I hope you are feeling better Sallie. Mo, hope youa re feeling a bit warmer now. Jean when do you actually go? I am sure you will have a lovely time.

Hello everyone, from a chilly Kent. I do hope that it does warms up for you Jean. I am sure you will still have a lovely break away anyway. A change off scenery makes all the difference doesn't it. Is D going to be house sitting for you. We have not heard from Sallie,so it looks like she is still unwell. If you are looking in Sallie, please get well soon. Do you know what Jean,I always thought that a char lady, was someone who made the tea. I am what one would call, a "scrubber " ( in the best possible taste obviously ). The only beverage I would partake off,is a cuppa tea. So no chance off me caught drunk in charge off my mop. lol I will pop back again later,if I get the chance,as I am out tonight. Love to you. Hello all. It was good to see you posting Marie. We have missed you on here. I had a phone call from my cousin in OZ,a couple off nights ago,and she was saying about how much rain had been falling. But then you really did need it didn't you. Did you manage to get out in your garden after all. I must get round to doing something with mine soon. I need to empty all the pots, from last year. And clear the poo, that my cat has managed to do in them. She's such a clever animal,I am sure she was in a balancing act, in a former life. If you were to see her, with her legs akimbo the pots, you would really laugh. I shall never fathom how she is so precise with her direction, when doing her business. Sallie ,how did Richard get on with his job interview.? Are you feeling any better today, I do hope so. How did you get on with the therapist on Thursday.? My goodness Sylvia, you get all the excitement around your way. What with what happened during the run up to the games, with the police cavalcade. And now fame, from the film crew. It will soon cost us a few bob to speak to you. lol Ann,are back home yet. How did the 18th birthday party go. Did your grandson enjoy himself. I meant to ask you before, how is your OH's foot now. Has the pain eased off a bit. I know it can be a long winded process to get over the pain off it. Now wheres our "WONDER WOMAN" Jean got to tonight. Cooooeee lovely lady where are you. I hope you and J +D are all well. A big hello to all our cyber friends. Love to you all. Mo xxx

Hi everyone
it was a lovely sunny spring day today! It got to about 13C ...... the magnolias are just gorgeous!
We have a Baptist church opposite us, and as I went out this afternoon I spotted a huge trailer parked in their parking lot, but couldn't quite make out what it was.
Well, when I came home with OH, the bottom of our street was closed, a police car was parked across the street at our corner to stop anyone entering ....... good job we'd come up the neighbouring street and into the back lane from the opposite direction!
Turns out, they were doing some filming at the bottom, and it was the food supply (ie, cafeteria) that was parked in the parking lot. They were filming for a TV series. A neighbour down the street said they had all had notices through their letter boxes to say what was happening ....... we're right on the corner, but our front door is on the cross street, so I guess they decided we didn't need to know!
Marie ........ I was so pleased to hear that your tests were negative! Way to go girl!!
I have to go back every year for the squish test. I've been doing it every year since I had the mastectomy in 1995 ............ and I gather they will still want to see me every year until I die!! I have to say that the period between just before having the squish and NOT hearing back from them within about 10 days after having it done is the time that I still worry!
I have no idea whether or when the Paralympics are on TV, we haven't heard anything yet! I most certainly hope that they will be ........ they really are the orphan child. The IOC almost disowns them ............... they insist that the Paralympics should be held after the Olympics, but then disappear back to Switzerland!
The Torch Relay started in Ottawa earlier this week. There is no traditional fire to light the the torch, so Canada has started its own "tradition". First Nations fire keepers from two groups in Ontario held a special ceremony and lit a fire on an island in the middle of an Ontario lake. They then took the embers from that fire to Ottawa and used them to light a cauldron and torches for the start of the relay. Now, the fire keepers are travelling from community to community to Vancouver, lighting cauldrons and torches along the way. They arrive in Vancouver in time for the Opening Ceremony on March 12.

Hope you are all okay. Speak to you all soon.

Hi Huia,I am here. I am just having a lazy half hour. I went and did two hours cleaning at my sons pub today. He has not had the place very long, and did not want to employ anyone until he got on his feet. But my lord,I dont think he has cleaned it since he moved in. The thing I detested doing was having to clean the loos. Some dirty git had thrown up,all over the wall in the gents toilet. Thank the lord for nice thick rubber gloves,or I could not have done it. By the time I had finished, the whole place looked like a new pin. He now wants me as his cleaner. And he will pay me£7.50 an hour. Originally he wanted me to do three days a week, but I said no,only two as he wanted me on a Saturday, and that is my big shop day. He then asked me to do a friends pub as well. He was prepared to pay me£20.00 for two hours. I know it's more money, but out off loyalty to my son.I will only do his for him. I am not getting any younger, and I found it quite hard work today. My back was killing me,when I got home. Roly has been pampering me since I got home. So thats a bonus. I hope you are all fit and well. Huia, how are you and Phil. What exciting things have you been up to. Speak to you all soon. Love Mo xxx

Mo, my brother was at a meeting, he stood up and felt something go in his knee at the same time the pain started. He was in agony all night, so my sister-in-law took him to A&E in Abergavenny. The doctors weren't too sure what was wrong, so decided to take him to theatre to try and find the problem. They discovered that a piece of bone had broken off the knee cap, and was moving round inside, so they just washed out the knee cap for now, but they've told John that he will need to have knee cap replacement. Not sure when, I'm going to ring sister-in-law later tonight to find out how he is, so hopefully she will know a bit more than last night. Alun, Michael and the other members didn't have to wait outside the hall on Sunday, Mo. It was the people that went to see the show that started queuing early. I think because it's one of the most popular shows round the area, so they wanted to get there early. Thank you for your good luck wishes for Richard for tomorrow. We're all keeping our fingers crossed for him.
Hope you and Roly are alright. I don't like to keep asking, but have you heard anymore about your granddaughter and nephew? I've been thinking about them both.
Jean, so your friends are in for another surprise-- I'm sure they'll love it. Alun has just gone to the club, 'to play trains with his mates', so I'm going to do some scrapping while he's out.
Take care! Love, Sallie.xx

Hello my friends, good to hear from you all. Oh Huia my love,I am so sorry to hear about Phil. Thats the problem when we don't use our muscles very much, they go into a rapid decline. Obviously poor Phil is not getting the exercise that his body was once used to. It must be so hard for you to see him like this. But the love for the man he once was, will never die. Phil seems to have a liking for the floor, doesn't he. I think it's time they put his mattress down there,so he cannot fall out again. Bless him,he must be so confused when it happens. Sallie,I hope your brother is coping with his bad knee. What did they actually do to him when they operated on him. It's good to hear Alun enjoyed the railway show. Bet it was cold for then queuing outside though. I will keep my fingers crossed for Richards interview tommorrow. God willing he will be successful. Liz,you let Mr Miserable think you are using the car, even if you don't. Whats he going to do,look at the mileometer,to see if the mileage has changed, miserable old devil. He's just being a lazy swine, not wanting to use his bike. Debbie, you are so lucky to have such sensible children. I do believe it's better to be honest with them,so that they understand what is happening within the family. Please wish your mum a very happy birthday. Enjoy your weekend off sporting delights. Speak to you next week, when you are more recovered. Love to the children. Sylvia,I meant to ask you,do they televise the para-olympics. If they don't,I think they are wrong not to do so,dont you. I hope you are feeling a bit better today. Have a nice weekend at the party Ann. Let your hair down and enjoy.
