I hope things went as well as they could possibly do today, and that your OH held up.
And that your f-i-l got a good send-off, as they used to call it up in Lancashire when I was young!

Hi All,
Just thought I would pop in here before I get stuck into family matters for the rest of the day.
A gorgeous day here today, dry and sunny with only a gentle breeze. The forecast is for it to go up to 14º later on so it should be nice and sunny in the church for the service. Neither of the older boys have decided to come with us. We gave them the choice and they chose not to come, so I am fine with that. I wouldn't have wanted to push their decisions either way.
Peter is holding up well at the moment but I think the funeral will be a testing time. He was the only one there with his dad when he died, and he was able to have a very long in depth heart to heart "chat" (one sided of course), before his dad slipped away from him. So he is at peace with the whole thing at the moment.
Other matters, Mo, well done with the darts. You'll have to create a "Touring Team" and play the teams over here. Ladies darts is quite a big thing here, both in Pubs and other Social Groups.
Sallie, it is hard to move house, but you are doing it for all the right reasons. I hope the valuations come up to Hubby's standards & expectations. LOL.
Huia, if I am not on here before the weekend, I wish you all the best for Sunday. It would be lovely if your son could spend some quality time with you and the pair of you do things that you want.
Finally, I have heard from Linda and (thank goodness) she and her OH had a lovely few days in Jersey. They managed to pack in a load of things and seem to have enjoyed themselves. So my Tourist Guide efforts worked.
Speak to you all soon and thank you to everyone for your kind thoughts at this difficult time for our family.

Oh Sylvia, what a lot of money to have to pay out and more to be done too? Scary! O.h. has been surprisingly chirpy considering he has cycled yesterday too and is doing longer hours all this week so wonder if he will cycle today too . I think he has to go on a course on Thursday so will have to take the car as he will need to travel between the two factories and that's a bit much on a bike lol
My son is fed up with his job, so is taking this afternoon off to go to the job centre etc he looks out all the time for a new job but can't find anything even tho he sends his cv out. It's so worrying for them isn't it? He is thinking of applying for work in the factory o.h. works in even tho he isn't keen on the idea of factory work and shifts, but if it means he earns more money and can clear his debts and get a car, if he passes his test, then it will be worth doing it for a year or so and will be another string to his bow. It's very hard for young people to find jobs and he has no real qualifications altho he has done several different jobs, he really is a people person and enjoys that best, but beggars can't be choosers, well he isn't quite a beggar lol but you know what I mean.
Anyway must finish clearing some emails and nearly time for bed.
Debbie, will be thinking about you all, hope the day is bright and not rainy, nothing worse than a grey wet day for a funeral.
take care all, Lizxxxx

Hi everyone
Physio day today, so this is my first time on.
It poured all night, wind was quite high .................... sun came out in the late afternoon! But it was so warm!! It got to about 13 or 14C at least.
OH went into the Garden early this morning, and I fell asleep again although I hadn't intended to do so. Was woken up by the phone ................. OH having talked to the receptionist at the dentist re yesterday's operation, wanted to let me know that the bill was just over $5300 (about £2500) ....... GULP!
That isn't the end of it, of course .......... I think there are two more crowns to be removed and the "bits" underneath examined. We can claim some of it back from our extended dental benefits, but still ...................................

Hi Ladies,
The valuer came, she was very nice, and gave us a price that I thought was good, although I think Alun was hoping for a bit more. We have another valuer coming tomorrow afternoon, so we'll see what they will have to say.The one that came today asked us if she could take photos from the back of our house, because of the lovely view we have. So if it helps to sell the house, then of course thats okay.
Mo, well done on winning again last night, I bet you were all chuffed to bits. Keep it up all of you. I hope that your son will soon be able to get another job, and that all will be sorted out for him and his girlfriend very soon. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for both of them. It was very underhand of the brewery, probably waiting until the pub was up and running and starting to do well, before selling it. They were just sly and coniving with both your son and his girldriend.
Huia, it would be nice if your son came up to you at the weekend, then he can go with you to Aukland University. I'm sure he would find it very interesting to know all about the research they're doing on brain research. It would also be nice for you to have company on Sunday, too. I also think that Phil would agree with you if he could, when he dies, about giving his brain for research.
Liz, you're sounding a lot better since you started going to the Counsellor. It's amazing how they pick up on things that we tell them, and go into depth about what we say, it also makes us think about things in a different way---things that we thought were of no signifigance, but are.
Ann, it looks very much that I'll have to get rid of the dolls house, as we're hoping to be able to view a bungalow, two roads away from where Jennie lives. So if we do move there, we'll have to get rid of a lot more than just the dolls house.
Julia, how are things with you? I hope that you're alright. I'm late on here today, have'nt had much chance before now, had to go T----s to get a few things that we needed, then Jennie and Michael came over and also had a couple of phone calls. According to the Estate Agent they are putting another house, just down the road from us, up for sale in the next couple of days. I know the people that live there, the lady is such a lovely person, apparently they are moving to somewhere in the Nottingham area, to a bungalow. She has heart problems and her eldest daughter has cancer, so they want to move to be nearer her.
Sylvia, good to hear that the party went well--nice to know that I'm not the only one that makes too much food. Still, it's better than not enough-- that would be so embarrassng. Lovely to hear that MJ is doing well, and it sounds as though mum and dad are also well. I hope you miss the worse of the Pacific storms.
Marie, hope all is well with you and your family. Take care of yourself!
Debbie, I'll be thinking about you all tomorrow.
I hope Jean and J are enjoying their holiday, and that the weather will stay nice for them, for the rest of the week.
Well, I'm ready for bed, so I'll say goodnight to you all. Take care!
Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Hi everyone. Sallie we won again, yippee. 4-2 in the team game, and 2-1 in the pairs. I'm, sure it's because off all the good luck wishes I get from you all. I was also top average again. I was gob smacked at that,as I did not consider myself to be playing that well. I am so sorry Richard was unlucky with the job. It can become so disheartening. My son has got try looking once he gets back from Scotland. He and his girlfriend are going up to her grannies for a few days. They both need the break away,as they worked non stop getting the business up and running, just to lose it. It has now come to light that the brewery intend to sell the pub. How did the valuation go Sallie. I hope that they quoted a good price,to enable you to get your bungalow. It's surprising what we accumalate over the years isn't it Ann. The things we store away for a rainy day,in case they come in handy in the future, and yet never use again. Huia, it sounds like you have been filling your days very well. I bet you really enjoyed the concert. I hope you found Phil well when you visited him. It's very understandable that you would want to fill your time on Sunday. Remember all the good times my love, and there were many I am sure. I hope your son does come up to see you,so that you can both go to the Brain day together. It may make things easier for you,not to be alone. Oooh Sylvia, hearing about your OH,has sent shivers down my spine. I had my check up done yesterday, with no treatment needed, but she scraped down my gum, with her instrument, and it is very tender now. It amazes me,that we can go into the dentist, with seemingly nothing wrong, and come away with problems. Bless little Matthew,he seems to be doing so well now. I hope the Pacific storms passed you by. What a good idea to jot things down Liz. At least that way you wont forget if you need to ask questions,or if any worries crop up. These therapists are flipping clever at picking up things, that we dont realise that we are worrying about. Hows Mr Cheerful been Liz. Still smiling is he. lol A big hello to Marie and Debbie,Julia. Special ~~~~~~~~to our Jean for when she comes back and browses our thread. Good night one and all. Love Mo xxx

Huia, that sounds interesting and hopefully your son will be in time to take you or attend with you - can you not contact him and make sure it works out? It would be very useful to them to have Phil's brain and might mean a step forward in the fight against Alzheimers so a very worthy cause.
Take care

Liz, I am now hoping that my son doesnt come up this weekend as there is a 'Brain Day' on Saturday. This is when there is a free public open day at Auckland University, presented by their Centre for Brain Research and the Neurological foundation of NZ. I want to go and find out if they would accept Phil's brain when he dies! I think Phil would appreciate it being used for research as we are both down as organ donors. If son does want to come up I am hoping that he will come early enough to take me.

Hi all,
Sylvia, glad Matthew is doing so well and tell your daughter not to blink or he will be all grown up lol Can't believe how old my son is, doesn't seem that long I was coping with the p88ing and p**ping lol
Hope your o.h.'s tooth will be ok now - at least he had no time to dwell on the treatment to come with it falling apart as it did.
Huia, glad you have been getting out and about with friends and such, and hope Phil was ok when you visited. It will be a nostalgic day on Sunday - hope your son visits to make the day a little special and that you can think of happy memories.
My counselling session went well again, I have been jotting down things as they come to me and then we talk about them at the sessions so I hope that will help me get rid of some demons, of which there seem to be many. The counsellor is very perceptive when I am talking to her and picks up on things quickly which we go into in more depth and she is beginning to see a lot of the things I feel hurt about etc by just picking them out of conversation.
Debbie, it's hard to know how best to deal with children going to funerals, my son coped incredibly well with his beloved Grandad's funeral when he was just 7 and a half altho his cousin, a month older, wasn't allowed to attend, my son thought that was really strange and couldn't understand why his cousin wasn't allowed there. He was taken on holiday soon afterwards to Disneyworld in American, my son (and my Mum) both said Oh I wonder where he will go when Nanny/I die lol It wasn't even as tho he was that close to my Dad either, couldn't have cared less whether he spoke to him or not or said goodbye after a visit so why he was supposed to be so upset I don't know. Funny family, my brothers lot.
Hope everyone else is ok and that our Jean is having nice weather on her holiday
love Lizxxx

Hi everyone
Lovely to hear that you all had really nice Mother's Days
Ours isn't until May 10 (second Sunday in May)
.............. it's so very commercial over here that we've always made a point with J that nothing more than a card is to be given on either Mother's Day or Father's Day (in June).
The party went well .... at least, we enjoyed ourselves! Had too much food as always, so we're on "eat the leftovers" duty.
OH had to go to the dentist today, dentist took off one of the crowns to "see what was underneath" (this is key to choice of future treatment). "Ah, yes, as we thought, decay" ..... so much decay that whatever remained of the tooth came away, just leaving the peg that had helped support it.
Sooooooooooooo ........ the dentist removed all that remained, and inserted an implant into the jaw bone.
OH is on soft food for the next week ...................... so some of the left-over salmon went into a fish pie!
Talked to J this afternoon. MJ is doing well, feeding voraciously, and seemingly p**ing and p**ping well enough to be washing out the bilirubins from his liver, so the jaundice should be sorted out soon. She goes to the family doctor tomorrow for the 1 week check-up .................. doesn't seem like a week! Her GP doesn't deliver babies, so she went to one of his partners for the pregnancy and delivery, now she can go back to him.
I asked if she was sure he had room on his list for a new patient! Answer was, yes, and he also would take "daddy" as well, who has been having problems with his long-time GP.
We're in another system of Pacific storms ... heavy rain, sun, more rain, more sun, etc. It should be nice and sunny for several days starting on Thursday.
Take care everyone

Hi all.
Sallie, I dont know how you can remember who has posted and what they have said, or do you jot down notes as you read so that you can then type away merrily without having to scroll up and down the page, but then they are not always on the one page are they? If dont mention everybody it is because I am not like Sally and I cant remember all that has gone before.
On Saturday (today is Tuesday) I went out for the day, to Thames for their Heritage day. I took a DVD of old photos dating back to 1928 and gave it to the Historic Soc.
Yesterday (Monday) a friend took me through to Auckland to a daytime concert, mostly operatic pieces, but the 3 tenors and 1 soprano had great personalities, otherwise my friend would probably have been thoroughly bored, I dont think it is her sort of music. I would have preferred a shorter concert but I was familiar with most of the pieces and have even sung in the chorus for one of them (about 1 line we had to sing!) when I think the soloist was Geoff Sewell from Amici.
Tomorrow I will be out again to visit Phil and do my shopping and on Thurs and/or Friday I will offer to help man a shop for our Gen. group's book sale in Papakura.
I havent planned my weekend yet, I dont like to plan too far ahead anyway, but I hope my son might come to visit from Rotorua. If not I will have a day out somewhere on Sunday, anywhere as long as it doesnt have too many memories, as it will be the 51st anniversary of our wedding and I dont want to stay at home on my own.
Huia.

Hi Ann,
Just seen your message. We'll have to get rid of some stuff if we move to a bungalow, and not just furniture. I have two dolls houses, one of which is quite big, so I think I'll have to get rid of it. Both Alun and Jennie has told me that I'll have to sell it, and not just give it away ( that's what I usually do) as it cost quite a lot when I bought it. So they are both digging their heels in this time.
Love, Sallie.xx

Sallie, I made one card yesterday but not done any today. still got one scrap book page waiting to be stuck down as well. We often think about a bungalow (I grew up in one and our first married home was a bungalow too. Our problem is, as soon as we start to think about it we think about all the accumulated stuff and where we would put it all!!!

Hello Ladies,
Mo, I forgot it's your darts night tonight. Keeping my fingers crossed that your team will win. Good luck to you all! Yes, we are deffinitely hoping to to move a bungalow, so we thought we make a start and get the house valued. I'd like to stay in this area of the town if we can, but there aren't many bungalows for sale at the moment. We've lived in this same area for thirty one years, and this is the third house we've lived since living here. Richard didn't get the job, I think he's a bit disappointed that he didn't get it, even though it wasn't really the kind of job he wanted. But at least it's a job and that it was experience, something else that he could add to his CV.
Liz, it looks as though you had a lovely Mothers Day. I'm pleased that you enjoyed your fish and chips, it's the best way to eat them, they always taste different, when you eat them from paper. Hope you got on okay with your Counsellor today. Did you manage to drive the car alright, if your legs were aching from all the walking you did yesterday.
Julia, sorry you had to go back to your usual place, I thought you had because I hadn't seen you on the boards. I hope you are feeling better now, and also that they will soon be able to find out what the trouble is. It sounds as though youv'e been busy, doing some baking--I did some on Saturday, it's nice to have some homemade cake.
Debbie, I'll be thinking about you, your OH and the family on Wednesday. I hope it will all go off alright, not a nice time at all, but something that none of us can avoid, I'm afraid. You sound as though you had a nice Mothers Day too. I think sometimes, even if we haven't got anything planned, we enjoy yourselves just as much, if not more. It sounds as though both Daniel and Matthew both had a busy weekend.
Sylvia, I hope your Spring Party went well, and that everyone enjoyed themselves. It's always nice to see people that you don't see very often, lovely to catch up on all the news. Hope all is well with baby Matthew now.
Ann, nice to hear that you also enjoyed Mothers Day. How are you doing with the cardmaking? I've almost finished making cards for Michael's birthday on Friday, I think I've got bitten by the bug after making the cards for Richard last week. Quite pleased with them, considering they were my first attempt at making them.
Huia, how are things with you? Haven't heard from you for a couple of days, so hope all is well.
I've been busy again today, what with doing some cleaning, ironing and making cards, so I'm going to have a shower, and then relax with a cuppa before going to bed.
Thinking about all our absent friends, and hope they are all well.
Speak to you all tomorrow.
Love and best wishes.

Brrr you made me feel cold talking about Daniel going into the sea. Hope you are all well. I will be thinking off you all on Wednesday. I hope that the children cope o.k. Julia, sorry to hear off your trip back to the hospital. I hope they get you sorted out as soon as possible. Ann your gifts sound really nice. But as we have said before, the cards are the thing that count, more than anything else. Sylvia, Yes it is the son that ran the pub. He is a bit off a jack off all trades, and master off none, bless him. Have you heard how young Matthew is progressing. I hope your spring party went well. I am not surprised you were getting shouted at,for doing things you should not do. You should rest, you naughty woman you. Sallie, how did Richard get on today.? Are you and Alun deffinately going to move then. Only when you say you have got the valuers coming tommorrow,it has got me thinking. I know you said you would like a bungalow. Morning All, how is everyone today? I feel very chipper as the sun is shining and the world looks good from my angle. Had a lovely weekend, Matthew was in a rugby tournament all day on Fri, and then there was no other sport all weekend for the boys. Matthew had 2 birthday parties to go to, so I didn't see much of him at all. He slept out as well, which was nice for him. Daniel has been round and about with various mates - Liz, you said about the surfers, well Daniel was in the sea yesterday, very cold but he had fun.
Luke & Spohie both had parties to go to as well, so we have been busy driving them around all over the place.
Mothering Sunday was lovely, once we'd all "touched base". We had decided not to go out to eat, but our walk and wanderings around the place found us down at the harbour so we just went to the cafe there and had things with chips (as long as chips are involved, it doesn't matter what accompanies them !!!!!). It was only myself & Peter (my O.H.), with Luke & Sophie. So it was good to have some special time with the younger 2.
All back to school now, and counting down to the holidays, I can't believe they have come round so quickly.
Peters dads funeral is Weds, for whoever asked, and the children have all been given the option as to whether they want to accompany us or not. The younger 2 definately won't and the older 2 say they don't want to, but they may change their minds on the day. Absolutely no pressure on them either way.
Sylvia, I hope that Matthew is keeping well. Jaundice isn't anything to worry about so long as it is treated as soon as it is picked up, which seems to be happening for the young chap. Your journey to see the family sounds long, but lovely. I'm not so keen on flying but the train journey sounds as though it is worth doing. I have only ever been to Canada once, and that was to Toronto, but my father had relatives that settled in Vancouver many moons ago and they are long gone now, but I still have details of some of them, one lady opened a Church of some sort in the area. I can't remember the details exactly, but I'll let you know and then you can see if it is anywhere you have every heard of.
Right, better go before you all nod off to sleep reading this. Happy Monday to everyone.
