Just a quick look in before I go to bed.
Thank you Sylvia and Jean for your thoughts for us tomorrow. It will be nice when it's over.
Huia, I hope your phone will be in working order very soon, and that you've managed to make an appointment with the doctor.
Jean, well done on finishing the friendship book for your goddaughter.
Off to bed now, so I'll speak to you all tomorrow.
Goodnight all.
Love, Sallie xx

AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH! Sorry for screaming, but I am so cross. I tried to make an appointment, rang 3 or 4 times and got through but the woman the other end could not hear me and said I must have hung up. I tried a neighbour and the same happened. I tried my sister and her OH twice and again I could hear them but they couldnt hear me. I will have to drive 3 or 4 km down the road with my cell phone to ring doc and faults. I will be lucky if I get an appointment tomorrow. I just hope I dont go crackers (more so than I am now) with the itching tonight. It seems worse when I am in bed.

Mo, yes it is my brother who's a vicar that's having an operation next week. Originally, he was to have had the operation in about six months time, but he's had so much trouble with both his heels, having one infection after another, that the Specialist decided that he will have to have the left foot done next week and the right foot in six months time. He also told my brother that he will have to book twelve months off work. So I don't know how that has gone down with his boss, the Dean.
Jennie got on okay at the hospital today, thanks for asking. Everything seems to be going along alright, apart from her lack of vitamin D, but I know they look after her really well, and will do their best to get it sorted.
Also thank you for your good wishes for tomorrow. It will be nice when the funeral is over. If you hear of two people from Derbyshire, lost in Bristol, you'll know it's us. As a family, we've always found it difficult to find our way round Bristol. Alun and I never have any trouble finding our way around London in the car, but Bristol and Manchester is another story.
Well, I'm going to have a shower now and I think an early night is called for.
Speak to you all tomorrow night.
Love, Sallie xxx

I hope you can get your appointment with the doc Huia. Scabies can be very rife in nursing homes. I know as my mum caught it in the home she was in. The nursing staff,did not believe us when we said mum had it,but when we asked the doc to visit mum,he went mad,as the staff should have picked it up before we noticed it.

Hi, Sylvia. I cant say the name Noel Bowden means anything to me, but then I am not your typical Kiwi mad on footy, although some names of some players I am familiar with because they come up so much on TV. I am glad I dont live in Auckland and rarely need to go there, with the world cup coming up it will be a very good place to avoid.
Sallie, I visited Phil yesterday. He had his head down, although he seemed to be half awake. I am wondering if all the scratching he has been doing is because of scabies. I did mention it to the nurse/carer a week or so ago but she hastily said that if they think somebody has it they treat it straight away, but son and his wife caught it from her mother who is in a rest home in Rotorua. I think I might have it too, I am scratching so much. I had thought I had picked up a flea somewhere, but it has gone on for some time now, so I am going to see if I can get an appointment with the doc today or tomorrow.
Roof is still on, wind has calmed down although I think more bad weather was predicted for later today (hope not).
Mo, the Ozzies do get snow in the Snowy Mountains, but I would imagine it would not snow elsewhere. Not that I have visited Oz. We get snow, but rarely up here in the Hunua Hills or Waitakere Ranges, and it doesnt sit long when we do get it up here. South of Taupo would be the best places for snow.
Must go, want to phone the surgery soon.

Hello girls I am back to pester you again. Sylvia the ex rugby players name does not ring a bell. But what a tragedy, losing his family like that. Now had he been a darts player,I would probably have known off him. I am not really into many sports unfortunately. How the heck are you going to get some rest,if your OH is away overnight. I hope you will have someone popping in to make your meal,and drinks, so that you can sit yourself down,and do nothing.
Sallie my thoughts will be with you both tommorrow. Have a safe journey. Is it your brother who is the vicar,who is having the operation on his foot. How did Jennie get on at the hospital.

Hi Girls,
Mo, I must have been having one of my senior moments, when I read your post. I'm so pleased that your team won on Monday night, and I'm sure that you will also win the next match. It's been a bit cold here, this week---we are hoping it will be at least dry for my cousin's funeral tomorrow. I hate travelling on the motorway when it's raining, but will have to take what comes.
Huia, hope the winds have died down now, and that your chimney is still in one piece. I'm always frightened when we get high winds, they can do so much damage, and cost so much to put things right. Have you been Phil over the last few days? I hope that he was awake while you were there.
Marie, like you I sometimes start a job, then get distracted, and forget to finish the job I had already started.It's nice to know that there are a lot of the same. You are kept very busy with the family, it's nice that you are able to help your daughter by being there to look after the children, when she's so busy with her University work. Please wish her all the best, from me.
Sylvia, I hope your leg is feeling a bit less painful than it's been. It looks as though my brother will be having an operation on his foot next week, at the moment he's having to wear an orthopaedic boot, because the specialist told him on Monday, that he thinks that the achilles tendon will snap, before the operation.
Thinking about Jean, Debbie, Ann, and Liz.
Love and best wishes. Sallie xxx

Hi Mo xxx
I too wondered about the icing ........... until I re-read what I had written
DOH!!!
I think I just pulled the muscle that goes to the back of the knee, to the left side of centre. Rest and ice packs (!!) are definitely helping.
Oh goes away overnight tomorrow, so I'll have 2 days of more rest.
We're having some lovely weather ............ mainly sunny, and about 15-18C.
Just had a thought last night .................. have either of you two lovely ladies ever heard about a guy called Noel Bowden??? He lived in Auckland, died last year, but used to be a big name in the Rugby world.
His wife died in a very tragic accident in 1992 ................. she was visiting her daughter and the car rolled off a steep road up to the farm. Mum was killed and daughter seriously injured. Noel still met me at the airport and put me up for 2 or 3 days (along with OH and daughter) about 1 week later.
He was a lovely lovely man!

Evening all. Yes Sylvia,we have got a new prime minister, well in fact I think we have got twins. They are called con dem. It's a worry,when we see them acting together on the t.v,being soo nice to each other,when during the lead up to the election,they were at each others throats. More so Cameron who when asked what was the best joke he had heard,he replied Clegg. You made me wonder how the icing came into the equasion, until such time as I re-read what you had written. LOL
Marie,I bet your family are so pleased to get your help and support. Pavlova,AND mud cake you little piggy. You and Sallie are not the only ones to suffer from CRAFT moments. (can't remember a flipping thing ) Especially when one goes upstairs,and on getting up there,not remembering what you went up there for. I hope it's a little warmer where you are now. Do you actually get snow then. We always think off OZ being hot and sunny,and not suffering the cold as we do.
Oh Huia,I do hope your roof is still attached to your house. Keep yourself nice and warm, wrap yourself up in a blanket as well as the extra clothes. And leave the heating on,you don't need to get sick from the cold love. Forget about lighting the fire, you dont want to have to go out in the cold to replenish your kindling.
Wheres my friends Jean and Sallie got to tonight.... Cooeee both off you.
~~~~~~~~~~to Ann on her hols. ~~~~~~~to Liz
See you all later. Love to all. Mo xxx
Hi Marie and all.
We have had a rainy day since about 11 a.m. and blowing hard, in fact the rain was being blown horizontally at times. It is quite cool but I havent lit the fire. Phil wouldnt light it in strong winds, 'just in case'. He worried that the roof might be blown away. I turned on the electric heater for a couple of hours and put on extra clothes. I am not very good at getting the fire going, and keeping it going anyway.
Hi Huia , I too noticed the (icing ) and wondered, I had a laugh when I saw it, Sylvia we have a warped sense of humour over the pond. Huia I hope you are well it is freezing here to-day with a bitterly cold wind. Have you had any snow yet they were expecting snow on the Snowey Mountians last night, I havent seen any of the weather forcasts to-day, as I have been spending my nights at my daughers place so that she can work on her assignment till the wee hrs.of the morning. I let her sleep in, I feed the children & get them ready for child care. I then wake her up so that she can take them there. When she does that she then continues to work on her assignments at the moment she is doing drafting and placing trees & plants into the Plan it is all part of the design course she is doing at University. I had a lovely dinner with the family last night & for dessert we had a Pavlova & a chocolate mud cake,I had a piece of each as I love desserts YUM! YUM!
Congrats Mo On Winning the Darts you will have to scout around to try and get a couple of good player, Bribe them with SPONGE Cake. Jean I am a little worried about you dear I do hope you are feeling better very soon. Ann good to hear you are having a great time on your holiday.
Sylvia are you rubbing your leg with anti Inflamitory's, I use it for my aching legs and some times on my bruises.
Sallie I am forgetfull all the time I really do think we try to do too much I often forget that I havent finished a Job, I walk away to get something and then forget to come back to what ever it was I was working on.Oh Well I am the only one to rouse on myself so it doesnt matter. Hello LIZ, how did the gardening go? the frost last night has just about finished my beans I dont think I will get any more off them. I have some work to do so must away, Love to you all. Marie
Hi Mo, and everyone xxxx
So I see you have a new PM.
We are so used to minority governments over here that most of us couldn't really see why there was all this kerfuffle, wheeling and dealing etc.
Not that minority governments last long ................. ours seem to go about 18 months or so before they do something that causes them to lsoe a vote of confidence (or before they themselves decide to go to the polls to try to increase the number of seats!!).
We do have 4 parties plus a couple of Independent members in the House ..... and we have exactly the same type of government as you have, with a Governor-General standing in for the Queen.
My leg is slowly getting better ........ I think I managed to pull the muscle down the back of my thigh, but it has been awkward because it was the other leg from the one that normally causes problems. I already have an appointment with my physio on Tuesday next week (appointments every 3 weeks) ......... so I will ask him to check it out then. Meanwhile, rest and icing are slowly working.
We're having lovely weather at the moment. It got up to 20C today, it will be a couple of degrees cooler tomorrow, but the sun will still be shining!
take care everyone
Hi Everyone,
Marie, I'm so pleased that you had a lovely birthday with your friends. I would have loved to have a slice of the cake, it would have gone down well with a nice cuppa. Sorry about the mix up in the day of your birthday, I gave Jeniwren Wednesday the 11th, and only realised very late last night that your birthday was today ( Tuesday ). I can't swim at all, although I've had different people trying to teach me over the years, nobody succeeded, because I was too frightened to put my face in the water. Thankfully, both Richard and Jennie were not like me, so like Alun they can swim.
Jean, I hope you're feeling a bit better after having a lie down. It's a shame the doctor didn't give you something to help you. How is D doing on her new tablets? I hope she's okay with them. Jennie goes to see the Consultant tomorrow for her usual check up, so as usual I'm a bit edgy until I know how things are going. Both you and J, know the feeling well, don't you?
Mo, oh I'm sorry about the darts match! Never mind, I'm sure your team will do well next time. Yes, I think we are more alike than just loving our cuppa. You know the saying Mo, ' great minds think alike ' --- so what does that say about us both? lol. For many years Jennie and I collected dolls houses, not a cheap hobby, but we loved decorating them and getting the furniture to put in them. A short while back we realised that if we move to a bungalow, there would be no room for the dolls houses, especially one of them, so we decided to try and sell it. We sold it on Sunday to a lady living in Middlesex so today her husband came up with a van to get it. Hope you and Roly are okay.
Sylvia, sorry to hear that you've hurt your leg, I hope it will soon get better, and not give you too much trouble. Take care and rest your leg as much as you can. Hope all is well with MJ and his mum and dad.
Ann, good to hear that both you and T are enjoying your holiday. As you said, at least it's warmer there than it is here. It's been very chilly here today, and the forecast is frost for tonight. I think I might need my hot water bottle tonight.
Hope that everyone else is alright.
Love and best wishes . Sallie xxx
