Hi girls.
I hope you are all well. How has the weather been where you all are.
It has been raining cats and dogs all day here. I am fed up, I did all the holiday washing, and could not put it out on the line,so now the clothes airer is wearing it instead.
Take care all. Love Mo xxx

(((((((xxxx))))))

so sorry to hear your news. Very sad when one was so young.

My dad died in 1970 the same way as your other cousin ..... a neighbour couldn't get him to answer the door one morning, another neighbour broke the door down. He was sitting in his chair by the fireplace ............... they figured he had died of a heart attack the previous evening.

Weather has cooled down here ...... clouds came in yesterday evening, and we woke this morning to very high winds and temperature down about 14C. Its still only just 16C at 10 am ..... so quite a change!!

Hello my friends, I am home thank goodness.
Please don't think I am ungrateful, but I found it very boring there. I am the sort of person who has to have a lot going on around me. I am a terrific people watcher, and just love to sit and watch them going around doing every day things. So sad arn't I, I should have been able to relax, and enjoy watching people on the beach, but you can only take so much of that.
It amazed me, how some people don't give a damn what they look like when they sit on a beach. It was hard to distinguish, between beached whales, and some human beings. LOL

Sallie my love, I am so sorry to hear of your sad losses.
My heart goes out to all the family. You will all be in my prayers. God bless you all.

My goodness Sylvia, MJ sounds like he is going to be a very big boy as he grows.
He certainly wont be picked on when he starts school. LOL

Right girls I must go for now. I have to start cooking again. Yuk
Washing to be done. Oh no, I want another holiday.

hi Sallie,

so sorry you have had two sad losses in the family, one so young and the other all alone, I hope she just sort of dozed off on the sofa and that was it, but what a dreadful shock for her son to find her.

I have family in S. Wales too, in Llanelli.

Mo, fancy not enjoying a lazy weekend lol

Sylvia, MJ is growing fast, he is going to be a big lad. You will see the difference in him when he comes to stay. No wonder J doesn't want to be holding him all the way on the plane.

Debbie, that sort of camping evening sounds great fun for the children and lovely that it might be a regular thing.

Must go, o.h. will be up for work in a mo.

have a good day everyone

love

Hello All,

I haven't been on here today, we've had some bad news, a cousin living in S. Wales has died, she would have been 61 in September. Also heard that another older cousin from the same town has also died, she died while sitting on the settee at home, one of her son's found her body the folowing morning, when he called to see her

I'll read and reply to all your messages tomorrow.

Take care everyone!

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Hi everyone

Dymchurch sounds lovely!!!

It's quite a bit cooler today, and cloudy. It's only about 23C in the back garden at the moment (almost 1:30 pm)

OH is watching the Netherlands/Spain game ...... so the tv is on in the background. I'm good at ignoring it!

Had a long chat with J earlier.

MJ was at the doc's on Friday for the 4 month check. He's grown enormously in the last month. Now 15 lbs 8 oz, and commensurately long ....... so he is in the 75th percentile. He was in the 50th a month ago! That apparently means that now he is bigger than 75% babies his age, whereas he was about average a months ago.

She wants me to make sure that the weather has cooled down by the time they get here a week tomorrow!

Hello girls.
It's been another glorious day here in Dymchurch. It is such a small place, with not very much to do,apart for the railway. Oh the memories of steam trains, all that dirt and smut.
We had a lovely meal out last night, with Roly's cousin and his partner. This is the cousin who's seventieth birthday celebrations we were due to go to,but didn't.
The hotel has a stream behind it,with lots of ducks, that come right up onto the patio, just outside the dining room doors.
It is so peaceful here, but I can't wait to get back home again. It's nice getting away, but oh so lovely to get back home, I can't wait for tommorrow.
I will say bye for now girls,I will read back on the thread when I get home.
Love to you all. Mo xxx

Morning All,

I'm not usually here at this time of the day, but I got up when Peter & Matthew went out fishing at 4.45 and haven't bothered going back to bed. A decision I may regret later in the day.

Marie, congratulations. Nia is a lovely name, I have a couple of friends with girls the same name but one spells it Niah. I think it means "rainbow" or something similar, but that may be a Portuguese version as both of my friends have Portuguese husbands. I hope Nancy is going to be ok. Nothing worse that giving birth then being really poorly yourself. Fingers crossed for all the family.

Sallie, I am pleased you finally managed to make it to the meet, but what a palarva. We drove past Sheffield at Easter but didn't venture off the main by-pass roads. It looked huge, no wonder you got lost, but I'm glad you enjoyed yourself when you finally arrived.

Another scorching day here yesterday, but it looks a little cloudier at the moment. We stayed in and did some work around the house and garden. There were a few Summer Events going on but the children were here, there and everywhere, so we made the most of having a reasonably long space of time to catch up on things.

Luke slept at school on Friday night. His class camped out on the playing field. It is the first time it has ever been done and was really successful. After they had all had a competition to put the tents up, they played games, did a scavenger hunt, had a BBQ, made bird boxes and "Insect Hotels" out of wood and generally had loads of fun and virtually no sleep. He was grateful to stay in yesterday as he caught up on some snooze time.

It was a very successful venture and the teachers involved are thinking of making it an annual event - obviously the dry weather this year was a bonus.

Talking of camping; we are off on our usual treck around European campsites from 30th July - 15th August. I've just ordered some new campsite guides as ours are years old and very battered by now, but they are well used and much loved, so I will never throw them away as I have made loads of notes in them and they make interesting reading. Such a shame things like those go out of date eventually - I think one of them is dated 2000, so about time we brought ourselves up to date with the info available.

Anyway, am off to make another cuppa and do some more sorting out of paperwork - I thought we were supposed to be heading for a "paperless society", I seem to have more paper than ever these days - oh well.

Enjoy the remains of the weekend. Take care.

Debbie xx

Hi all,

phew, it's been so hot here in Norwich this week and yesterday was awful, trying to do so much in such hot weather. More on the way I think.

Huia, glad you are getting rid of the mice, do you think they are starting to come in for warmth or have I got the wrong end of the stick?
So pleased you are getting some kind of response from Phil and nice that you can get some walks in too only be careful and do tell people where you are going if you strike out to somewhere a bit quiet, or leave a note in your car when going off walking alone.

Marie, Congratulations on the new little member of the family - I hope she will have wonderful life. How awful that Nancy had such a bad time, I hope she recovers well very soon. I did smile to myself, you must be at sixes and sevens, this is only 11th July, now did you give your son an early card lol or are you just a bit tired and confused lol? I know time flies but it was only 10th July yesterday !!!!!

Glad the hotel is nice Mo, Dymchurch is somewhere I looked at when I was trying to book our hols, then we went to Corfu. O.h. said last evening we will have to go away in Sept again, but he isn't keen on renewing his passport so won't be Corfu again! He has been so wrapped up in this blasted wedding etc he took no notice when I mentioned holidays, I so wanted to go away when the days were long, but no, back to September hols yet again so the light evenings are short.

Sylvia, I think we need a sunshade - maybe o.h. will get one for the garden.
Stay comfy and cool if you can.

Sallie, glad you found Dutch and Nina in the end even tho you saw a lot of Sheffield first.

I will add more about the wedding saga tomorrow as I am really tired now

Will good night or good morning to any early birds.
take care and try not to get too hot and bothered those of you with high temps. Ridiculous that in Norfolk it was 31 degrees yesterday and in Aberdeen it was 13 degrees, my friend Kathy rang on Friday evening and said it was so cold she had her heating on yet again, she has had to use it several times this summer, poor love.

bye for now
love

Hi all

Congratulatons Marie on the new grand daughter. I hope all will go well from now one
xxxx

Mo ... enjoy your holiday

It's hot and sunny here ..................... temperatures over 30C in the sahde in the back garden, and we won't mention what it gets to inside the house, even with the fans blowing!

We now have an umbrella on the sun deck ......... first time since we bought this house in 1972 that we've actually had a shade umbrella! The sun deck faces south, and is completely exposed, so we just haven't used it much except in the early morning and late evening!

off to mooch around the boards while most people are asleep!

Marie, my congratulations, and best wishes to all.

I visited Phil again this morning. He is actually talking to me these days, rather than just answering me. Not that I know what he is saying as it is quiet and a bit slurred, but it is nice to see the improvement. Afterwards I bought a pie for my lunch then came home via Cosseys Dam (one of the ones that supplies water to Auckland) and had a walk across it, then down to the Hunua Falls for another short walk. Just arrived home 20 mins ago.

Huia.

Oh, this is a lonely thread! I know what you mean Huia, I think they've all gone and left us. Apart from Mo, and she's out and about in Dymchurch, enjoying herself---with no time to talk to us, lol!

Mo, you and Roly have a great weekend, you both deserve it, and the break will do you both good!
Just take care! Don't do anything I wouldn't do!lol!!

Huia, thank you for your birthday wishes, they are appreciated. I had a lovely day, it was lovely to meet Joyce (Dutch) and Nina. They're both lovely ladies and very down to earth.
The only problem was, that we couldn't find the pub where I was meeting them, but eventually got there an hour and a half late. We stopped at Sheffield Railway Station, so Jennie and Michael went in to ask directions, we should have done that to start with, it just took us ten minutes from there. Sheffield is very poorly signposted, I lost count of how many different ways we tried to get to the pub.
Never mind, I got there eventually, and enjoyed myself, and we all had a good laugh together.

Let's hope that you've got rid of the mice and that you won't get anymore trouble with them.

It's good to hear that Phil has been responding to you on your recent visits to him. I really hope that he'll continue like that for a good while, as I'm sure it makes you feel a lot better when you see him like that.
I'll look in again later today.
Take care! Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Huia Report 9 Jul 2010 10:18

While I think of it, if it isnt too late, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SALLIE.

I have caught 8 mice in the 3 days since I started setting the traps. I wouldnt be surprised if there arent more in the traps now. I will have a look before I go to bed.

My TV was playing up tonight. The picture is all squiggly and multiple (if you know what I mean) and when I tried to watch the news there was also a bad buzzing so I turned it off. The buzzing had stopped when I turned it on later for Coro St, but I couldnt see who was who so had to tell by the voices. I am hoping it is just the aerial. I will have a good look at it tomorrow. Not that I watch a lot, but it is a bit frustrating.

I had trouble getting to sleep last night. I can be yawning my head off but as soon as it touches the pillow I am thinking of all sorts. Last night I was thinking of the book I am planning to publish about my granddads paintings, planning what the cover would look like etc. I had to get up at 1 a.m. to take half a sleeping pill (I hadnt taken one before bed as I am almost out and hoped to be able to do without). The pill worked but I was late waking and had to take the rubbish bag down to the collection site before breakfast. It was a nice fine day so after breakfast I hung out the few clothes I washed yesterday when it was too wet to hang them out. Then I decided to wash a lot more. When I finished I decided to sit reading for a few minutes. The sun coming through the window was very hot and I decided I really should be out there in the fresh air, walking, so I drove over the hill and walked up and across the dam. I nice 1 hour walk. Should have done me good although the sun wasnt as hot because of the breeze, but I wasnt too cold.

Better go and check the traps downstairs now, then off to bed.

Huia.
