Hello my friends. Mo, Jean and Sallie, thank you so much for the lovely cards. I have so many cards I have run out of places to put them. Well where I can see them. When I get cards I do like to be able to see them all from where I sit. It goves me a lovely warm 'friendly' feeling.
We have had a good day. I spent my birthday money in Hobbycraft, then we went for lunch at a Harvester which was very pleasant. I had a glass of wine but T had coke as we had to drive home down the M5.
this evening we will have a bottle of Cava, some pate and some brie for a snack.
thank you again for all the birthday wishes. I will put a separate thread up in a minute to respond to my birthday thread.

Ooooooh lookie lookie, theres our Jean poking her head round the door. Coooee my lovely, good to see you. Whats this you are saying about moi then, me mad never. Or perhaps I am now, since we have been friends.LOL Just think, this all started when your original thread got whooshed, and I started searching the boards for you. I put the plea out trying to find you, and then what happens, I get addicted to your wit. Luvs ya loads you know that dontcha. It's alright girls, Jean and I always tease each other.
Ahhh Sallie, I did wonder what had happened to you. You were very quiet at your end. Now I understand why, we could not hear you because of the little ones. Hope to hear from you later on today, to catch up on all the gossip.
It's very quiet here as well today. I have done the big shopping, just a few odds and ends to get tommorrow. The bedding has been on and off the line so many times today, in and out of the showers of rain. We have not got anything exciting planned for the weekend. We were going to go down to the Eastbourne Airshow, this weekend, but the weather forecast is not very good, and it's a long way to go, just to sit around in the rain.
I hope Ann is enjoying her birthday. And if they have shared a bottle of wine, I hope she watches where she is going, and does not have anymore mishaps. I bet she has bought a load more crafting bits.
I hope we get another visit from Tess, it was nice to hear from her.
Well my lovelies, I will close now, and hope to hear from you all soon. Love and best wishes to you all. Mo xxx

Hi everyone
and especially "newbie" (to the thread) Tess! I think our paths have crossed elsewhere Tess.
very busy yesterday ......... OH drove downtown to pick up 2 Swiss friends at 10 am from the hotel where they were staying. Brought them back to the house and chatted ............ until it was time for him to drive out to the airport to pick up daughter and MJ at ca 11:30 am on their return from "oop north".
Back to our house. More chat. Lunch ..... very simple, plates of cold meat, cheese, salad fixings, 2 kinds of bread, and make your own sandwiches.
Then we took our Swiss friends out for the afternoon, leaving J at home with MJ to sort herself out. We drove to an old fishing village about 30 minutes away.
It was originally populated mainly by Japanese Canadians, and there were about 4 or 5 canneries there (mainly canning salmon). Now, the fishing fleet, all but one of the canneries have been demolished and replaced with blocks of apartments and town houses ........... and the one remaining is a National Historic Site where you can see how it used to operate.
BUT there is a fantastic board walk around the harbour, lots of good places to eat (mainly seafood!!!), and a number of the fishing boats sell fresh fish caught that morning. OH bought a fresh 3lb sockeye salmon (the red fleshed type), we'll have it tomorrow night.
Then back home, bbq pork steaks etc, and finally take the visitors home at about 9pm!
I did too much walking, so am a bit sore today ............... but have to be good to go out for dinner tonight.
It's our 43rd anniversary
Opening of the Grouse season as OH likes to put it!
Take care everyone

Just a quick Hi from me. My attention was bought back to this thread by Ann in Glos (on a different thread). I am pretty sure that I used to write on the original Introduction thread, quite a while ago.
I used to use the board name Theresa tread anywhere. I am 61, retired early due to ill health, but would have retired by now anyway! Have worked with children with special needs, also in a Bank as a Cashier ("How would you like your cash?" is forever imprinted on my brain) and a varity of office jobs, mainly working with figures as I can't spell.
Have lived in the West Midlands in England since 1961 when my Dad came out of the army.
All for now, Tess

Well Ann, the bedroom. Three walls are painted white, the other wall has a pale blue background, with white flowers on it, in wallpaper. All the glossing is white. The painting is a white background, with a big pale blue flower in the middle. The curtains are navy blue velvet, the cushion is navy blue, the throw is navy. The bedding is all white. Wardrobe, chest of drawers, and bedside table are all white. I like the minimalist look as you have probably realised. I hope you enjoy yourself at the garden centre, and at the brewers fayre. Buy lots of crafting things, as you know you will get a lot of enjoyment out of them. Love Mo xxx

Don't tell us half a story Mo, what is the picture like? White and blue sounds beautifully fresh and clean. I love blue bedrooms, Ours usually has some blue in it, very restful. So, is it blue walls and white paint, or white walls and blue paint?
Foot is still painful when I walk but the other bruises, although colourful are not so painful thanks. On friday we are going up to Webbs Garden centre near droitwich (There is a Hobbycraft there and although last weekend was mostly my present I am also having £20 from T to spend on craft stuff. He asked what I want but I really couldn't think of anything -I know I am lucky but if I need clothes I buy them) We will then go out for lunch to the Brewers Fayre pub there.

Ouch, Ouch, Ouch Sylvia, that sounded painful, but it looks like it may have done the trick. How has MJ been getting on. Is he still getting up and down on his little legs. Bless him if he keps on like this, he will be walking by 10 months old. Four out of my five were walking by this age, but one of my daughters was almost 15 months old before she would even attempt to stand alone.
Hi Ann, I hope you are feeling a bit less bruised today. Are you and T doing anything special on Friday, for your birthday. I know you celebrated last weekend, (then falling down that step), but not exactly enjoying your trip.
I took a trip down to Dunhelm Mill yesterday, and bought a lovely picture for our spare bedroom. I have decorated the room white and blue, and wanted a picture with a bit of blue in it. We went everywhere looking for one. It seems that blue is not the in colour at the moment. I also managed to get some cushions in the same shade, so now the room is completely finished. I am really pleased with myself.
I hope the weather where you all are is better than here. No rain at the moment, but it's very overcast, and quite chilly. I do hope we get an indian summer, as we seem to be heading into winter months already.
Bye for now girls. Love to you all. Mo xxx

Hi all
J is up north with her aunt for a quick visit .... flew up yesterday, back tomorrow morning!
I had to call for an "urgent" visit with the locum physio, my back has been acting up and I just couldn't get it right.
I had seen the locum a couple of times last summer, so he wasn't quite a stranger ....... but I'm not sure whether the treatment was worse than the problem .... he found every spot that was "tight" and thus hurting, then applied lots of pressure with his elbow!
I did ask him about my niece's problem
He said that problems with that joint during pregnancy are pretty common, and not uncommon afterwards, although he himself had not seen anyone in such bad straits.
He said the physio who got her walking was good, but she will need to do strengthening exercises for months, plus may have to wear a special belt type of thing to provide support for some time. Will possibly / probably also have to take anti-inflammatory pills ... I'm not sure what is available for a nursing mother.
The way he described was that the joint was a sort of L shape, and it is pretty easy for the one side not to fit evenly into the angle of the L as the ligaments tighten up.
We also have 2 Swiss friends visiting tomorrow, so will not be around until very late.
Take care everyone.

Huia, pleased to hear that you had another good day at the Hospice shop. I'm sure that you enjoy the company and having the customers to chat to.
Good to hear that you and your friend enjoyed yourselves at the dinner concert, in Papakura. Also, it must have been nice to have a meal there, too, especially when the food is really nice. I haven't heard of a dinner concert at all ---- but they sound as though they are really nice to go to. Maybe they have them in some parts of the UK, but not here in Derbyshire.
Hope all goes well at the funeral tomorrow, and that you have a good and safe journey. Also hope that all is well as it can be, with Phil. Take care!
I'll look in again later on, hope everyone is okay.
Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

At the Hospice shop today I was shown how to use the eftpos machine and the till. I had to say 'Arkwright' (my idea) to remind myself not to stand too close to the till when hitting the last couple of buttons. I finished the shift at 1.45, came home, had a quick lunch then lay on the settee hoping for an hour sleeping to freshen me up for tonight, but I couldnt get to sleep. At least I had my eyes shut and feet up for an hour. My friend picked me up at 5.30 and we went in to Papakura for the dinner and concert. A great meal, and some great singing from the choir and conductor. The concert finished at 9pm and I was home half an hour later so not too late for me. I should sleep tonight though. Tomorrow I am going to a funeral in Howick which is about an hour away. It was my mum's last living cousin, the last of that generation, although there is still one of dad's cousins alive. She is about 83.
Off to bed soon, see you in the morning (for me) maybe.
Huia.
