Mo, alas it wasnt the O-ring. The radiator core was rotten. I phoned son who ordered a new radiator to be sent to the garage. I was lent a car to get home. It was a nice small car, but it was an automatic and I have never driven one of those before. I had intended to do a little bit of shopping before coming home, but having had trouble working out how to drive it and had people behind me honking their horns I decided to come straight home, or as straight as the road would allow. I arrived without crashing it. Now I just have to get it back in one piece when my ute is fixed. It should be today or tomorrow. Norty son paid for the radiator. I told him I am not a pauper yet, not needing to eat grass and snails, but he and his wife both work and the only dependents they have are a couple of elderly dogs. He is like his dad, very generous and helpful.
Must get off the computer in case the garage is trying to ring me to say it is ready to collect (says she hopefully).

I always liked daisys but also like colour .. So I think that I would be an Anemone - there is even a St Bridgid variety (not that I am a Saint - far from it) Like me, they don't grow very tall, and most varieties like to be in the shade.
Huia, a Sunflower sounds good to me. Always something rather uplifting about them. Makes me smile when I see them, they brighten up the day. I hope that you get your car rad sorted soon.
Here in the U.K. we are told that we are in for a cold snap. I suppose that it is nearly November and clocks change soon, a real sign of winter.
EDIT ... I found it again!
Sallie my sis bro-in-law and their family are steam and model railway buffs. They are all keen on the Severn Valley Railway, and the Model Railway track that is at one of the stations.
Have also got cousins in Colarado who are also keen "followers" Lots of money and time devoted to this "Hobby"
Coz has a garden railway in her "back-yard"

Afternoon ladies. Sallie, I really enjoyed the dancing last night. I am pleased that Paul Daniels went. What was it with all the magic tricks he tried to do before he danced. The competition is supposed to be about dancing, not magic. He had no sense of rythm at all,and walked his dances through. Sorry to say that I did not rate quite few of the dancers this week. Apart from a couple of the men, who's names I can't recall now. Scott was one I believe, he from Eastenders fame. Ann Widdecombe,is good entertainment value, but must not win,it would be so unfair on others who are taking it seriously. (just my opinion mind)
Huia, I could definately see you as a beautiful Sunflower, reaching up to the sun. How did you get on about your radiator. Was it the O-ring in the end.
Ann, I am glad you had a nice time at your daughters. I was not completely right in my assumption, but I could recall your saying that you were going to London during the week. Silly me.
Sylvia, I had heard of the terducken before,I believe I saw a programme on the T.V, where the chef was showing how it was put together and cooked. It would be far to big a meal for me to eat as well. Not that I like a lot of meat to eat at the best of times. The prices were really good though, much cheaper than we over here would have been charged. Oh poor little MJ, teething is such a terrible time for babies. Both my boys teethed with bronchitus, but the girls were fine. Apart from being fretful I mean. Teeth are a pain coming, and going arn't they. I shouldn't worry to much about your friends coming to you, before the memorial service. They obviously realise you are in the midst of a lot of upheaval, and take you as they find you.
Well ladies I must go and do the dinner. Oh by the way, our darts has been cancelled tonight by the opposition. So I shall have a night in, in front of the T.V, and on here. Take care all. Love Mo xxx

Hi all.
We're having some glorious Fall weather ...... bright blue skies and sun. It is getting down to 4 or 5C overnight and upto 13C or so during the day.
I have no idea what flower I am or was ....................... I am shy in terms of making friends, but also I've never been too shy about speaking out, either in a group or in public.
We eat out most Friday evenings at one of two local places. Last Friday we went to the "bistro" and they had Terducken on the menu.
This is the latest thing here. One local butcher was advertising it for Thanksgiving last weekend, and wanted 2 days notice because it is so time consuming to make it. The bistro was making their own.
It is a chicken stuffed inside a duck stuffed inside a turkey, with layers of stuffing between each one. The birds are cut open down the breast and all the bones removed, then the turkey is laid flat, a layer of stuffing placed over it, the duck laid flat on top of that, a layer of stuffing, the chicken laid flat on top, a layer of stuffing spread on top. Then they are either rolled up or formed into a semblance of a turkey.
I would have loved to have tried it, but wasn't quite hungry enough for a big meal! It wasn't a bad price ................ $20 (ca £12 or so) for the meal with a potato and yam mash and veggies, or $25 for their special 3 course meal.
I talked to J earlier .... they're all well, although MJ is cutting his first tooth. H seems to be reacting by being "not quite his usual self". They had a big nor'easter storm go through on Friday and Saturday.
OH is "working" this weekend ....... at the Apple Festival at the Garden. They buy their apples in from local growers, preferably organic growers, and NEVER have the kind that you buy at the supermarket! I think they have something like 60 varieties on sale this year!
The flooring looks good ..... but it's one of those things that looks different colours in different lights, or where there are shadows, and is almost impossible to photograph to get a true indication!!
Our friend's Celebration of Life is on Tuesday afternoon. We came home on Friday to find a message on the answer machine from last weekend's party girl to say "can we make a deal for Tuesday? I'll phone you at a later time".
She still hasn't phoned ....... but I know they will undoubtedly be coming over for the memorial.
I think what she is going to suggest is that they come to the house and then we combine cars ................ we are actually between the ferry terminal and where the memorial will be held, so it makes perfect sense, and we have done it many times before.
I'm just going to have to say "Fine. Great idea. Just close your eyes as you walk through the living and dining rooms. And please use our bathroom, not the guest one"!!!!! :)))
Take care everyone

Ann, Glad you and T enjoyed your weekend at your daughter's.
It's lovely meeting old friends and their family. The trouble is we tend to think of the children as looking as they did when they were a lot younger, time passes so quickly that we get quite a shock when we meet them years later.
Love, Sallie. xx

Full marks Sally. Yes we were in Hampshire yesterday and today to stay with our daughter and to go today to a birthday lunch (70th) for an old school friend of mine who we don't see very often. Part of the pleasure was seeing her two daughters and their children. We had never met the children and they are now teenagers!!!

I wonder what flower I would be? Perhaps a sunflower. Big, bright, in-your-face. I have always wanted to grow some but one time I planted seeds and soon after they came up something chewed the stalks. I will have to buy a ready-grown one but it must be the giant sort. That is what I want. When I was young I was like Theresa, a shrinking violet.
Better go if I want to get my radiator sorted.

Hi Mo,
Meant to ask you if you enjoyed the dancing last night.
I don't watch it, but Jennie rang to let us know that Ann Widecombe and her partner were iust about to start their dance. What did you think of them?
I like Ann Widecombe, she's very straight and to the point about different matters, people know exactly where they stand with her---she's also a very good sport.
Alun and company, are now happy with the colour of the club shed, so there shouldn't be another Sunday morning painting, at least not for a long while.lolol!! Fussy lot of men! But as you say, it's sometimes choosing the right shade. In the past we've had the same trouble with a particular room.
I'm going to have a shower now, before it gets any later.
Love and best wishes to you all. Sallie.xxx

Mo, Ann and T were down in their daughter's this weekend, and getting home sometime today. I think it's next weekend they go to London, it's their Golden Anniversary gift off their family.
Hope you had a good game of darts. I'll keep my fingers crossed for for tomorrow night.
Huia, I hope that you'll have a good journey down to your son's at the end of the week. It will be change of surroundings for you, even though you'll be on your own part of the time. Although I'm sure that the dogs will be good company.
Well, I'll speak to you all soon.
Love, Sallie. xxx

Oooh Jean, I promise not to open it till the day it's meant to be opened. Now if I was to describe myself as a flower, it would have to be a rambling rose, not because of it's beauty, but because I am always rambling on and on and on ad infenitum.
Huia, I do hope it is only the O-ring,and not a hole in the rad. That could work out quite expensive, unless you could get a second hand one. But then you can't always guarantee that they are 100% can you. We have done that before, gone to a scrap yard and bought one, only to find it was just as bad as the one we had the problems with in the first place. Lets hope you can use Peters computer when you get there, or we will miss speaking to you. We mums come in handy for lots of things dont we, ie dog sitting, baby sitting, house sitting etc. Enjoy yourself down there love, it will make a nice change of scenery for you, and the dogs will be good company.
Tess, I think you are right about not worrying about what others think of us as we get older. Now me, well, as Jean will no doubt agree, have got gobbier the older I have become. I used to be a wall flower, who would not say boo to a goose. But as I said earlier, I am now a rambler.
Hi Sallie, have you done that washing up yet. I bet you are lucky in as much as, you have cooked the dinner, and the others will wash up for you. Did Alun and the others manage to get all the painting finished. Please dont tell me that they did not like the colour again. Honest, I thought it was only us women who changed our minds about things like that. Do you remember when we painted our lounge. I think I sent Roly back to B+Q at least three times, to change the colour. It was either to dark, or to light. Never satisfied thats me. lol
Jean I am not sure if Ann has gone away just yet, or if it's during this week sometime. Somehow Thursday comes to mind. But you of all people know how bad my memory is. A proper scatter brain that's me. Not long now till your holiday. Don't forget to take some nice warm woolie pullies with you,and your long johns. Get J to pack your hot water bottles, and a bottle of whisky for the hot toddies to warm you up. I have to take care of her girls, she's a little treasure, and wasn't very well on their last holiday, and we don't want that happening again now do we.
I have been up the club practising for darts tommorrow night. I don't want to be bottom average again this week. Also I don't want to be held responsible for Jean, spending her pension on backing me,and losing all her pennies. lol
It's time for tea now girls, so I will speak to you very soon. Love and best wishes to you all. Mo xxx

Jean, if Mo can call me a saucy monkey, I am not worried about what anybody else might call me. I get very flirty these days.
When I got home on Friday I noticed when I went in front of our wagon that there was a pool of water on the floor, so I left the bonnet up overnight and in the morning I checked in the radiator. Very little water, took almost a litre to fill it up again. I dont know if there is a hole in the radiator, or something else. Son suggests it might be the O-ring. I now leave the bonnet up when I come home so I can check the water level before I go out, and top it up. Tomorrow (Monday) I will go to town to the place that used to be the Nissan specialists and get them to look to see what the problem is. I hope I can get it fixed before Thursday as my son has asked me to go to his place in Rotorua to dog-sit. He and his wife are going tramping in the National Park (Mts Ruapehu, Tongariro, Ngaruahoe). Not only would the dogs not be allowed there, but they are both elderly and one is on medication and the other is arthritic. I am hoping to drive down on Thursday so I have a bit of time with them to get to know what the dogs need before Peter and Linzi go away (presumably Fri night or early Sat morning). It is Labour weekend, so the Monday is a holiday. I hope to come back on Tuesday, or Wed morning at the latest. I dont know if I will be able to use Peters computer while I am there so dont be surprised if I go missing for a week. Always assuming my wagon is fixed. I might have to hire a car.

Hi Everyone,
A quick look in to see how you all are. It's very quiet on here as it is on quite a few other threads.
Ann, hope you and T are enjoying your weekend with your daughter and her family. Take care and have a safe journey home.
Mo, enjoy your game of darts tomorrow. The practice will be good ready for Monday night.
We have Jennie and Michael coming for their Sunday dinner, as usual, lol!! Although it won't be until later in the afternoon, because Alun and his Model Railway club mates, will be repainting the shed that they painted last week. Wrong colour last week! lolol!!
Sylvia, hope that your kitchen is finished by now. I bet it looks lovely.
Huia, it sounds as though you enjoyed your meals out over the last couple of days. I must say you made me feel hungry when you were telling us about it.
I was pleased to hear that Phil was up and about when you called in to see him, it makes such a difference for you.
My sister-in-law rang us on Wednesday night, she was telling Alun that her husband has deteriated quite a bit, lately. We feel upset about that, but of course there's nothing that any of us can do, as you well know.
Jean, hope you and your family are okay. It won't be too long before you to Llandudno, I hope that the weather will be oaky for you and J. Dry, at least.
Will you take your craft stuff with you, so that you can do more cards?
Tess, like you, I've been on the London Eye, it's a wonderful view, the first time we went on it, we could see as far as Windsor Castle. It was amazing!
The second time we went on, we had Chloe with us, she was five at the time and was too frightened to move off the seat in the middle of the car we were in.
Joyce, thinking of you and hoping that the bug you had is now better.
I'm sorry I haven't been in touch with you, only I haven't got your telephone number. I'm hoping that you'll look in on this thread and see this message. It's to let you know that I haven't forgotten about you and when you're ready to get in touch, I'll be here for you. Take care of yourself.
Not sure when Marie get's back, but hope she's having a good holiday, and will have a safe journey home.
I think it's time for bed now, so speak to you all soon.
Love and best wishes to you all. Sallie. xxx

Good evening everyone. Huia, I don't know who deleted, but it was not me. Cor you was a saucy monkey at the reunion, all that kissing, my goodness To be honest with you, I would not recognise my first boyfriend, if I passed him in the street. I was only about ten/eleven, when I met him at boarding school. I do occasionally see someone I used to go out with though, and thank goodness I did not marry him. I doubt very much if any of my old school teachers are still alive, they were all very middle aged when I was at shool. And if they are alive, they would all be in their 90's at least by now. And how we all were as students, I feel sure shortened their lives. We were all awful children at secondary school, very rebelious and loud. I was that bad, that my father took me to the headmaster, and asked him to cane me. But the head would not do it,thank goodness. Did you manage to sleep alright after all your excitement yesterday. Talking of sleep, I had better go and get ready for my bed. Night night god bless. Love Mo xxx

There were 39 people at our reunion. It had been limited to 40. My old High school boyfriend was there with his wife. I gave him a hug and a kiss anyway! There were also 4 of our teachers who must all be in their 80s. I hugged them too. I would never have done all this hugging and kissing 60 yrs ago. We had a nice lunch and plenty of chatting and laughing and lots of photos taken. I hope I can sleep tonight after all the stimulation.

Huia, enjoy your reunion, have you managed to stay in touch with any of your old school friends?
Sounds as if you had a good feast, well done on managing to resist some of the food on offer. Like you, I am trying to loose weight. It is so difficult when you love food and eating as much as I do. I find exercise difficult too, which of course does not help.
Sylvia, I hope that your new kitchen will soon be ready for use, and that you get your home back to yourselves, without the noisey workers.
Will you be going out for a meal to celebrate when it is finished?
Enjoy you week-end in Hampshire Ann. And I hope that you like "Love Never Dies" next week-end. It is years and years since I saw a show in London, I think that it might have been "An Inspector Calls" about ten years ago! My heating seems a lot better today, thanks Mo I have been on the London Eye, and aatually felt really safe and secure while on it, worth trying unless you have got a bad case of fear of heights. I felt quite at ease, whereas A few years earlier I had been rather scared on a big wheel at the seaside (I think that it was in Mablethorpe). I just grimly held on to the rail as tightly as I could, and clenched my jaw while looking forwards, couldn't even manage to chat to my young niece, who was with me.
