Hi Julia,
We use Toton Garden Centre and Trowel more than the others. The food in Toton coffee shop is quite nice, they do a nice roast dinner there, although we haven't had food there for a good while. so maybe it's changed now.
I think that you're right about it being Little Eaton that my friend goes to, I know it's on the road into Derby and not far from the A38.
Do you know Julia, now we have been talking about the Garden Centres, I fancy a visit to the nearest ones now. So it looks as though Alun will be having a trip out now.It can be his birthday treat.lolol!!!
Right, I'm off now, so I'll speak to you all later on.
Love, Sallie.xxx

Hi Sallie, the garden centres we use the most are, The one we are going to on Thursday Trowel Moorgreen Jacksdale Sometimes Wessington, if we are up that way. And more recentley, Toton, on the end of Brian Clough Way, where we went yesterday. and Little Eaton, which is perhaps where your friend means. It is on the road into Derby, adjacent to the A38. I have also found a proper butcher there, who also deals in Game. As soon as the freezers are down, we are going to have a session in this shop, and then go to the garden centre. Havn't tried the Japanese Water Garden at Toton for a while, so when we are next over that way, we will give it a try., as we are about to set up fish. That's our kind of day out. Take Care Julia in Derbyshire

Hi Girls,
First of all Alun has asked me to thank you all for the Birthday Wishes you've all sent him. Thank you everyone.
Joyce, I'm sure it will take a good while before Michael will get over Pneumonia and Pleurisy. I'm glad he feels a bit better than he's been. Please give him our Get Well Wishes when you next speak to him. We are thinking about him.
I know how he's feeling, having had Pneumonia and Pleurisy at the same time myself. It was weeks and weeks before I could lie down to go to sleep, between the pain and breathing problems, the only way I could sleep was propped up with pillows. Richard was in infants school and Jennie was in nursery, luckily I had good friends that took them for me and brought them home. I was also fortunate that my mother came to look after the house, cleaning, cooking etc., I certainly wouldn't have been able to do it.
I haven't heard anything about the heating allowance going up either, unless as Ann said it is for the older ones.
Pleased to hear that Llonka seems to be coming along nicely, hope she will continue that way.
Julia, it's nice to see you posting on here, if only now and again. I'm really looking forward to meeting you on Thursday. I'd be interested to know where this other Garden Centre is. My friend goes to one out towards Breadsall way, not sure of the exact place though. We tend to go to the ones that are nearest to us.
Caz, how are things with you today? I hope you are feeling a bit better and not in so much pain. When does Phil start back to work? Alun starts back tomorrow, but he still has two weeks holiday to take before the end of March. We are hoping to go down to Richard's for a day or two soon, but not sure when. We'll have to go down when he has his day off one week. He has a few small jobs to be done, so Alun has offered to help him.
Ann, are you going to start on some cards while Tony is at golf?
I thought I might try and make some cards this afternoon, but just some plain simple ones to start with and see how I get on with those, As I've already said, my concentration is not very good so don't want to do anything too taxing.
I've been reading Daff's thread, but haven't posted on it for a week or two. I'm so pleased that she has started to eat a bit more now and that she will be able to go home very soon. I hope and pray that this will be a good year for her, and that she'll have the bone marrow transplant from her brother.
Huia, please would you wish Phil a Happy Birthday from both Alun and myself.
Hope you can get rid of your ' unwelcome visitor ' very soon. If you can find out where it's coming from you could then hopefully do something to get rid of it.
Well, I'm going to do one or two things before I make our lunch, so I'll be back later on today.
Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Julia, sorry went away from PC to sort washing, empty dishwasher (2 days worth) and start on taking cards down prior to undecorating in the next couple of days. Can't do it all in one these days!!!
Thanks for that I will tell OH. He usually grows Tumblers in his baskets. As this year we are away in April I don't think he will be able to grow seeds so will just buy a few plants.

Good Morning Girls, I did not know which thread to put this on, but I wanted to catch the eye of Ann in Glos, and saw she had posted in the last few minutes. Ann, I remember a conversation between yourself and Daff, last summer, on the merits and varieties of Tumbling Tomatoes. Well yesterday, as I had previously mentioned, I went to a new to us, garden centre. I picked up a packet of seeds for a new tomato variety called 'Cherry Cascade', by T & M. It contains 8 seeds and retails at £2.49. The blurb on tha back of the packet says '"Possibly the world's most prolific cascading plants, ideal for growing in hanging baskets or container and rewarding you with a massive number of sweet and juicy 'current' sized fruits throughout the summer. No side shooting or training necessary " I thought I would give them ago, and at 8 seeds, is just enough for 2 hanging baskets. I remembered your conversation, and when I saw the seeds, thought I would let you know. By the way, they are all new 2011 seeds in the garden centres now. Needless to say, I also bought a packet of 'Summer King' Foxglove seeds, a pinky colour, and Poppy seeds 'Candy Floss' a Lilac, both at the trial price of 99p. The Tea Rooms at the garden centre did a 'not bad at all' homemade mushroom soup' aswell. Will definitely be on our visiting list for 2011.. Take care All Julia in Derbyshire
PS., meant to say, I'm looking forward to meeting with Sallie on Thursday

Joyce Llonka seems to be coming along nicely now and she will feel a lot better after a shower, glad Michael coming on ok, there's always something with your lot isn't there, they keep you on your toes. Joyce have sent the photo for you now. Pleurisy is not very nice, very painful, hope your son doesn't get that again.
Sallie Happy birthday to Alan, hope he enjoys his day.
I am sure your friend is wrong about the second £200 we are not getting extra I'm sure. Unless she is in the 'older' group who get £400 but then she would have got it all at once.
Huia, happy birthday phil for tomorrow. I do hope you can solve that rat problem soon, it must be getting you down.
Tony has gone to golf, I am just off for a shower and hair wash. Back later.

Our son and his 3 'girlfriends' have gone now. I did see him a couple of times each day as one of the 'girls' has a problem and has some machine which she uses at night to help her to breath, so son would bring the battery over each morning to charge it up (he didnt offer to pay for the power!) and also to put chilly pads in our freezer each day to use in their chilly bins over at the camp. He came each evening to collect the battery and fresh lot of chilly pads. They all seem to have enjoyed their 3 days and have decided they must do it again as there are still a lot of things to do here, walking or mountain biking.
I didnt visit Phil over the weekend. I will be going tomorrow, the 4th, as it is his 81st birthday. Son and I have our birthdays a week later.
Happy birthday to Alun, Sallie, I presume it is the 3rd (date) for him.
My horrid rat visited the bathroom again last night, left 4 calling cards (maybe hinting I should leave out the soap for him) and managed to set the trap off without getting caught. I must get a carpenter in to try to block off the way I think it is getting in. Each night I put the soap in the cupboard, and in the kitchen I turn off the stove at the wall then cover it with newspaper, and also the benches, and put the hot water jug in a cupboard so they cant contaminate it. Quite annoying.
Huia.

Well just watched another Morecambe and wise Christmas special on TV, then a couple of soaps I had recorded. Nothing else on to watch really. I am recording Downton as I didn't watch it forst time round, just got to find time to watch it all now!
Sallie, shall think of you and Julia on Thursday then, have fun both of you.
Caz, It was in a card magazine that i read that pro markers should be stored horizontally, because theya re double ended it keeps the ink flowing between the two ends apparently. Hope you soon get back to making your cards, I am so pleased that it is therapeutic for you.
Mo, I don't like Matt Lucas in the comedies he does. However, over New Year we watched him 'training' to take part in les Miserables at the O2 and he was great, he played the part of the Innkeeper and was very good. He has a good voice too. Thatw as a very good programme if you like Les Mis music, very interesting.

Hello Girls,
Caz, lovely to see you posting again. It looks as though you are going to enjoy yourselves over the next few weeks watching the Morcambe and Wise DVD's you bought today.
It's nice having something to watch, as there isn't much on TV at all, there are so many repeats on, that's been on so many times before that we can act them ourselves. Even the programmes that I really like, I'm fed up of watching.
Oh Caz, I wish I could concentrate on making cards, but I'm finding hard to concentrate on anything much at all lately. I know that once I get into making them I won't want to stop.lolol!!
Ann, I've been in touch with Julia, and up to now it looks as though we are going to meet on Thursday, so I'm looking forward to that. I know that the garden centre coffee shop has a very good reputation for the food they serve there, although I don't think we'll be eating there, well at least not a meal.
Mo, thank you for your Happy Birthday Wishes to Alun, I'll pass them on to him tomorrow morning.
Jennie and Michael have been for their Sunday dinner today. I must say that I enjoyed it better than our Christmas dinner, I was beginning to think that I couldn't cook anymore.lol!
Tess, I hope the nausea you had yesterday is not so bad today, it's a horrible feeling, you have my sympathy.
Jean, how is the Album going? hope you've managed to do a few pages over the weekend.
Joyce, sorry to hear about Michael having diseased lungs. Has he had any chest problems in the past or is this because he's had pneumonia?
I hope you are feeling a bit better today, and not in as much pain as you've been in.
Marie, have you heard anything from your brother, our news have been showing Rockhampton, it looks devastating. I really and truly hope that your brother's house is okay.
Huia, hope that all is well with you. Have you heard anymore from your son?
Did you visit Phil over the weekend? If you did, I hope that he was okay and that he was awake and alert, as I know it makes your visit so much more pleasant for you.
I wonder when Sylvia will get home, it'll be nice to hear how she enoyed her Christmas with her family and also how her and OH enjoyed New Years Eve on the train.
Linda, hope all is well with you and your family, and that you enjoyed your Christmas and New Year.
Speak to you all soon.
Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Hi girls. Another kind of lazy day today. We did pop up to the club for a quick meet up with friends, as we didn't go out yesterday for Roly's birthday.
Caz I have sent the photo's to you love. Like with everyone else, I hope you receive them o.k. It is nice when we know who we are talking to on here.
We both loved to watch Morecambe and Wise. No commediens(sp) come up to their standards these days. We watched David Walliams and Matt Lucas in " Come Fly With Me "the other night, but we must have strange senses of humour, because we did not find it funny at all. In fact we felt it was quite racist at times, and crude at others. If this is what comedy consists of these days, I think I would rather do without it.
Bye for now girls, take care. Love Mo xxx

Mo I have just sent you a pm with my e-mail addy. Ann I read that marker pens should be kept point down to keep the ink flowing to get a good coverage. I am waiting for hubby to go back to work then I can spend as long as I want doing cards, I find I can't concentrate at night too tired. It was the best thing I did getting interested in cardmaking, and I'm even more into it now than when I started. Mentioning Morcambe and Wise, when I went out this morning I found their Christmas collection DVD, three discs so we are in for plenty of laughs for weeks to come.
Caz xx

Mo I hope Roly has had a lovely birthday.
Sallie, so good to see a couple of good long posts from you. I am pleased that you are going to meet up with Julia.
Sylvia, you will soon be back, hope you had a good christmas and enjoyed your New Year on the train.
Joyce, I don't think I have sent you a photo, I will if you let me have your e mail address.
Caz, hope you can get back into your card making soon, I need to get another A4 box for storing my marker pens. I have been keeping them upright and apparently they should be stored horizontally.
Did anyone else watch the 1974 Morecambe and Wise christmas show? I wish they still made programmes like that nowadays.
