Whoopee the family allowance is going up by 45p a week.... Any ideas about how to spend it? |

save it up for 17 weeks and you can renew membership on GC and have 3p left over which used to buy 12 black jacks or fruit salads! Oh no ... that was 3d! :-( Jacky:-) |

hey bob hubby has just had a brainwave if you flog your kids and foster some more you'll get a couple of hundred quid a week PLUS family allowance now why didnt i think of that...lol susie |

It's a rotten system....my son is doing a levels a year early at 17, so will leave school this summer. But that means we have to lose a year's allowance, even tho' he's off to university. i could have put the 45p towards the top up fees fund! |

I'm sure that Mr Blair and Mr Brown will be grateful for the 45p extra per week per child. It will make the same amount of difference to them as it does to everyone else. Roll on the next election! |

Hi, Marie-Anne is right. In New Zealand we used to get a child allowance. It was the only money some mothers actually received directly in their name - to use how they wanted. It stopped years ago. Christine |
