Hi, all. Can anyone check who was living at 10 Bourne street Croydon in 1901 please? I'm hoping that it's William Sampson and Jane Sarah Sampson nee Howard. Many thanks, Gaynor. UPDATED...I've found out that this is Janes parents address John & Elizabeth Howard. They still lived there in 1901. Are William & Jane Sampson living with them? They were in 1903 when my Nan was born. There's a possibility that they may have a son with them; William sampson age about 3. Many thanks again! Gaynor. |

Hi, Thats a good question? I don't know their ages? (only found out about them this morning) I do know that they married in sept 1897 in croydon. so they must still be quite young. Their daughter (my nan) was born in 1903 and they also had 4 boys, which i'm hoping were born before my nan/ otherwise i'm not going to get very far at all. Sorry to be so vague! I'm a pain aren't I!!! lol Many thanks Gaynor. |

Thanks, Janice & Julie!! Now i can add some of Jane's siblings to my tree. I wish i knew where William & Jane were in 1901 though? It's strange to think that they went back to bourne street in 1903?? Thanks again, Gaynor. |

Hi Gaynor, Same address in 1891: John 53 labourer Elizabeth 48 laundress Mary 18 dau domestic servant James 14 son scholar Rose 11 dau Thomas 8 son Frederick 6 son William A Coleman lodger blacksmith Jane doesn't seem to be with them. Was she the oldest or perhaps in service? You might be able to find her on the 1881. If I find W & J in 1901 I'll let you know. Have fun with this lot! Janice |

Hi, Janice. Thankyou so much for that!! I can see by Janes siblings, where all our family names have stemmed from. it's funny how names seem to carry on through the generations isn't it, even my 5 year old nephew has inherited them! I don't know if bourne street is still standing? but i could try to find out somehow. It would be lovely to have a photo, and it's very kind of you to offer!! Thankyou! Thanks again for all your help, and everyone else too! All the best, Gaynor xx |

Bourne Street is still there, althought whether it is the same house I have no idea. But from recollection, there aren't any new houses there. It's just by the flyover near the salvation army place.Reeves corner but the waddon side of the fly over. Shelli |

Shelli & Janice - Thankyou so much! It really means a lot to me! Although my Dad came from Croydon, I wasn't born there so, other than the relatives we used to visit years ago, i haven't been to Croydon much since my Dad died in 1984, so I don't really know what it's like? Thanks again, Gaynor. |

Diana, I wish you'd posted that earlier! I parked outside 23; could have taken a picture for you. The houses are terraced and old so probably the originals. If you want the pictures I took for Gaynor let me have your e-mail address and I'll send them on. Janice |
