My G Grandparents Thomas and Mary Jane Green[sometimes known as Mary sometimes just Jane]are not on the 1881 census.Iknow they were in Aldershot in 1879 and in1883 where they stayed for the next 50-60 years. As Thomas was in the army the Hospital Corps could they be abroad?Even Mary Jane and her baby daughter Elizabeth? If they were in Aldershot 1879 and then again 4 years later I would guess they haven't gone anywhere. Have you gone through Aldershot page by page on the census, or have you just looked for them in the index? They may well have been mistranscribed. When and where were they and their children born? nell |

If he was in the Army they could easily be elsewhere. By chance I was in England in 1971, 1981, 1991 and 2001, which would in itself hide the fact that I spent many years overseas. Could you find baptisms for the children, which might reveal more information? The Army record of your ancestor might show where he was in 1881. |
