Hi Im looking for the parents of a Clara Bennett, she was born around 1910, married a Harry Greenough and had three children, Ernest, Ethel and Victor. Her address in 1931 was No. 1 Dyehouse Lane, New Mills, Derbyshire. Thank you in advance Angie |

whwre wasshe born and did she have older brothers and sisters that will enable us to find the family in 1901? otherwise trace birth record and find parents names |

Thanks Jess but I dont know anything about them, I got their names from my father's birth certificate. All I know is that they both died before I was born, I was born in 1957. |

checked births on ancestry found, clara bennett b 1905 march qtr, belper,derbys, 7b 677 (new mills is quite near to belper?) checked above on 1837online found these as above and clarice bennett same year and qtr, 7b 805, chesterfield, derbys 1901 census there a nearly 2 pages of bennetts for belper district. |

Sorry just stopped for lunch, found 15 Harry Greenough 1901 census 7 in Lancs 1 in Oxfords 1 in Hampshire 1 in Berks 1 in Staffs 4 in Yorks age range from 2 monthe - 35yrs. Any idea where he was born, or year? |

thanks Heather, I would say he would of probably been born in Lancs, the year around 1903 and I know he died either in the 40's or 50's. Sorry I am so vague. |

Thanks Jess, I think I will. No my dad died in 1998 but I didnt have much contact with him, I think I only saw about 10 times since mum and him got divorced, and that was in the 60's. |

Harry Greenough march qtr 1901 leigh, lancs vol8c pg 285 Hope this helps, the only one found in lancs nearest to your '1903' year. |

Thanks once again. How will I find out if this is my grandfather? This is all turning out alot harder than I anticipated. Going to keep trying though |

angela- not sure where you're starting from.You can ony go back from what you know for sure.What you need to find out will only come by way of a cert, which you can only order if you know what you are looking for. you may have to start with your dads birth cert, accesrtain his parents, their births and their parents names. |

AS you have grandparents names from from your dad's birth certificate your next step should be to search the GRO index for their marriage. If you can find that you will have their ages (though they may have just stated of full age) their fathers' names and occupations which will help you to narrow down the search for their births. good hunting Judith |
