I know exactly where, when and to whom my grandmother was born. I have found her parents on the 1901 census and they are listed as boarders at the address., but she is nowhere to be found. I have tried every combination of her name/surname I can think of and the only ones I can find are listed as ‘daughter’ in the household, so logically could be the grandmother I am looking for Also I am puzzled by the 1901 census, on 1901 website, the address where she was born is listed but on ancestry, the number of the street she was born at has vanished. I am completely stumped as to how to find her and would appreciate any suggestions/help any of you kind people can offer. Thanks Carol |

It is possible that she could have somehow been missed if she was away from home on census night. (depending on how old she would be?) I have a similar situation with my great gran who would have been 17; I have tried endless searches and she is nowhere to be found. |

Kate If I am correct, although her mother is listed as formerly Wright on my gran's birth. I believe she had been married before and her maiden name was Plume. The first time her parents appear on the census residing in Salford was in 1901. They appear on the previous census as residing in Essex. Carol |

Jess Well......... I THINK William was big STEP Bro to my Gran. When I looked at the 1891 Census, William is there BUT, although Ancestry lists his name as Bennett, when you look at the image of the page NO WAY is his name(or his sister Dora)'s name BENNETT, it definitely reads as WRIGHT to me!! Hm... another family revelation I think......lol My fault you looked in the wrong place, I assume everyone knows Pendleton is in Salford. Carol xx |

Carol Although you know she was born in Salford, you might have to be very open minded when it comes to the census. I have a family in 1901 declaring their 7 years old son was born in Herefordshire, near their 1901 address....... Strange- I have a copy of his birth certificate, which says he was born in the same house as my grandmother, in a South Wales valley. People could be very forgetful, -or economic with the truth. |
