Sinead If the only discrepancy is her age on her marriage cert, I would say she probably lied to sound younger (maybe she was a bit older than her husband?) nell

the 1855 came from a much later census when she married a samuel Langton on 15 May 1875 in Leyland all the census info I got from the censuses on Ancesty.on the 1851 census Someone did a look up and she was 10m old with the same family.It does seem to add up but am not sure! sineadxxx

Sinead To clarify - are you saying the census info points to her being born in 1855? If so, where is the 1851 info, from the GRO birth indexes? nell

I wonder if I could ask people's opinion? I am searching for a Mary ann Cocker apparently born in 1855 in Leyland is Lancashire. The only one I can find is born in 1851 in Leyland. In the 1871 census she is a boarder in Leyland. In 1861 I seem to have found her with her family Hugh and Ann Cocker in Leyland.Her dates and area of birth match those from the 1871 census. Seeing as she is not with her family in 1871 does it seem that these are her parents cos the dates and area match or am I barking up the wrong tree?? Any advice would be much appreciated.I think they are the same lot but you never know . Many thanks, Sineadxxx
