WONDERFUL!! - I didn't really think it was your Andrew but then, as I said, sometimes 'every little helps' and things add up later. I wish I could solve my own problems but do let me know if you need anything else. Dea x

UPDATE Just heard back from Grandad. Dea and Victor - you did indeed find my Uncle Andrew. Born Donald Andrew McGregor. Thanks for that. As for Paul apparently he has no other name than Paul and was born in Sunderland. Edgar was adopted by Grandad at the age of 2. I never knew that. Only being new to the family I guess it's something Grandad never thought to tell me. I met Edgar once and he was very alike to my Dad ( I too was adopted). Many, many thanks for all your help. If I can ever help you please give me a shout. Best wishes Jules xx

Thanks for Dea. I'm just waiting for Grandad to reply back. Although he is 73 he likes to keep himself very busy so I have no idea when he will reply. Hopefully later on this afternoon. Jules xx

Hi, I'm sure there is no connection but sometimes 'every little helps' ? I have found Donald A McGregor born at the right time - wrong place. Mothers maiden name Green but Reg in Heywood. Quarter 1 1963. Ref 10c 546. Could be your Andrew? Dea x

I thought it was my eyes playing tricks on me at first. I waited for a couple of days and tried again and got the same thing.........nothing. Could they have been missed out for some reason?

Hi Victor, B/f was born Philip Charles McGregor 1955 and registered in Plymouth. father Arnold McGregor and mother Sheila McGregor (Green). B/gf seems to think they were registered in Plymouth. Bit of a mystery. Thanks for looking. Willing to return the favour. Cha cha cha thanks for the info. Might phone and order them that way! Thanks Jules x

Have you checked under different spellings? 1837, after I contacted them, assured me that they were 100% accurate and updated. However, I have been searching for death records of ancestors of mine, to no avail. Assuming that the records at 1837 are 100% correct... a good idea may be to telephone the Registrar Office where the births were registered - this is what I did... and Southampton searched the records held there for no charge at all. failing that, you may have to assume that the names were spelt completely differently, or that the mother registered her children somewhere completely differently - Scotland, Ireland...?? But phoning the registrar office would be the easiest and cheapest, I would suggest.

Jules Cannot find them either. I cannot believe that all three of them were not registered. Are you pretty certain of their place of birth, as with a name like Mcgregor they may have been born in Scotland or Ireland. When and where was your B/F born? This may tell us something. There were no registrations with the maiden name of Green, other than in Mar quarter 1963 there is a Donald A district Haywood vol 10C page 546, and none as I could see for the Plymouth area. So they were not registered under a different name. Victor

I have been trying to find my b/f's brothers on 1837 in order to order their birt ceerts. I have looked more than twice and I can't find them. I have their dates of birth and mother's maiden name, except for Edgar's Mum. Am pretty sure they were all registered in Plymouth. I'm a bit stuck as to what I do next. Any advice please? MAny thanks in advance. Jules
