I have now sent to the five people who offered to help. My server has just announced that it is unable to send emails from my outlook express so I have had to send the emails directly from the server. I do hope they arrive OK and that no one thinks I would ignore their offers of help. Without broadband in our village it has taken me an hour to do! Thanks again Sylvie

Hi Sylvie I have received the scan. Is it possible that the person born could have been a twin and the bit before Crickhurst could be a time of birth. The wording is eighteenth July 1841 1/2 past something at Crickhurst Willesden. Notice that the `at` comes after the 1/2 past something. If this was the whole address, the `at` would have been placed before it, if you follow.

Carol, just took another look at the scan, my 7 and 9 the first half of 1/2, yours definately makes sense now, still can't figure the time.

Thank you all for helping and for forwarding the emails. The irony of this is that I don't really want to know about this child who is the son of the chap I am trying to nail! I was just hoping to get an address in Cricklewood from which I could search the 1841 and 51 censuses! Oh well, I will have to think of another back door to sneak through! Thanks again I didn't even think of it being the time of day! Sylvie

Sylvie Just got back from work and looked at you email. I agree it looks like 1/2 past, but then possibly fitell, it looks like -itell and the first letter looks like the 'f' in 'of July'. Can't do any better than that, but I don't think it is an address. Sorry. Victor

'of the clock' would make sense.
