Birth cert for any of the children will confirm wife's maiden name. Birth cert for either bride or groom will confirm father's name which should be the same on the wedding cert. nell |

There is a 16 year old Ada Norris listed on the 1901 census site born Stepney living Lambeth ,Perhaps someone could look up for you to see if this might be her she may be in lodgings. Her occupation is Machinist of under clothing. Deborah |

Ann - are you saying that you have found one of the names in the marriages on FreeBMD but no matching entry for the other? You should look in the marriage indexes for the same quarter, perhaps on 1837 online or Family Relatives, for the other name and see if there is an entry with matching volume and page number. If there is, then you have found your marriage. If not, then he / she married somebody else! If you put up the details of the entry you have found it may be clearer. Kate. |

Sorry all you kind people please bear with an old lady who is new to all this tecnology, when i was at school i had a slate to write with. Let me see if i can make it a bit clearer. My GG/Garndparents were James Henry Norris born 1841 Emma Ewer born 1841 One of their sons James Henry (G/Grandad ) born 1868 Chelsea Married ? Louisa Watson born 1868 Blackfriars I have found a marriage entry Watson Louise 1888 Lambeth 1d 517. but cannot find her spouse which should be James Henry norris On the 1891census and the 1901 census they are listed as husband & wife, but i'm open to the idea that they were not married, or maybe i'm not looking in the right place. My Grandad James Henry born 1892 Bermondsey married Jane Matilda Burrell in 1912 My Father Jame William was born 1911 With so many James Henry's i'm very confused Ann |

Thank you all, i have bitten the bullet and put in an order for the marriage certificate this morning, so fingers crossed! Unfortunatly i shall be in England when it comes so will have to wait till i get back, i will let you know the outcome (back on the 28th June)celerbrating my birthday back in the UK. so watch this space !!!! Ann Deborah thanks that is the one that i found as well Kate you mentioned 'Family Relatives' What is this and where can i find it? |

Kate | Report | 10 Jun 2005 16:26 |
It is www.familyrelatives.org I hate to say this, but if you have ordered the marriage cert for the reference given above by Deborah for Louisa Watson, which has no matching entry for James Henry Norris, I don't think it will turn out to be the right certificate. You need to find matching entries for the two names in the same quarter and year and then order that certificate. Kate. |
