Has anyone used www(.)bmdindex(.)co(.)uk and if so is it any good. It says you can do a full name search but I was wondering how complete the actual index is. You thoughts would be appreciated. |

Just read through the home page and the index is complete(unlike freebmd) ie. a copy of the records at the FRC. One thing i did notice is that once you have searched and looked at a page you can go back to it again at no extra cost - useful if youre printing out a lot of data and lose the plot half way through! Will def give it a go once ive used up my 1837 online credits. Elaine x. |

I am hoping to get some feedback from someone who has used the site, before parting with my cash. Hopefully someone will be able to give us their opinions of the site. I just cannot believe they have a COMPLETE index. |

Someone had to do it, so I risked a fiver. Unless I am doing something wrong, it looks as though it may be a scam. I have got to the search page, entered the details, but there is no search button. I will get back to you and let you know what happens and if it is just me. |

If you do a search on this Tips board for 'bmdindex' by entering it in the 'Enter Text and Search' box, you will be able to read several other threads talking about the same website. They mostly seem to start off saying, 'I've just found this wonderful website' and finish up, 'the bmdindex website is ****' I haven't tried it myself though! Happy Hunting (but maybe not on bmdindex?!?!?!?!) Sarah |

Hi All Thought I would have a look at this site. Thought I would try my hand at indexing. Put my details, logged on, and hey presto they say I am already an indexer!! Apparantly I have indexed, London Road, Manchester. Must have done this in my sleep, that might account as to why some of the census's are not correct. I thought, I will give it another go, picked to do Ardwick, Manchester where most of my rellies lived, but it looks like I have to send for a CD before I can do it. They have also got Chorlton as being in Ardwick, so unless its moved by about 5 miles or more I don't think so. If anyone does indexing for them, can you let me know what I do next. Ann |

You jogged my memory that I have a sub to this site. Shows how much I have used it to forget I paid £5!!! I found that it had nothing different to 1837 each look-up (BMD) costs 10p. Found it much slower, but that could just be my PC. The census information did not cover any area I was looking for, found it covered very little. If you are looking for BMD after 1910 might be useful, but prior to 1910 would suggest you use Free BMD site. For all my census look-ups use Ancestry UK. Has 1861-1901 you can take out membership for just a quarter, but remember to cancel when you no longer need it as they automatically take the money from you, following an e-mail to tell you your membership is due for renewal. Think you can also pay per look-up. Jo |

hmmm, doesn't sound too good then. Think I will stick to familyrelatives for now. Just wish they would hurry up and add a full name search for all years. |

I have credits for familyrelatives, but found that some of the images did not match the search span so I end up paying for a page I do not want. The other day, I was searching for Instrell and got several pages of name beginning with L or F. I think I shall stick to the 1866-1920 How do I search on this BMD site. I can enter the details but there seems to be no link to start the search. |

Tried again and got the submit button this time. Must have been a glitch with my computer or I had too many windows open. |
