Rebekkah, you should read the home page for info re new to genealogy. That will give you the bon fide websites. NEVER pay more than £7. |

Rebekah - I did the same thing when I first started researching the family history. I am now sadder, wiser and poorer. I went through UK Certificates(.)com. |

Of course, you could always go to the local register office, for the parish you want, usually quicker than the GRO, and only cost £7, never pay anymore, if you do, than as previously said you are being rip of ......Lilly |

The place to order from for £7 certs http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificate/index.asp#0 I think it costs £11 without the full GRO reference. |

Linda If you order direct from the GRO they are only £7.00 for any copies. You need a credit/debit card. If you are paying £11.00 you ar being ripped off. Victor |

Hi Rebeckah, birth certificates are £11 for the first copy and £7 for further copies you can download application forms with all info from gov.uk linda |

Rebekah Where have you got the information form to order the certificates? If it just from the family then you will need to find the record of the event in the GRO records to obtain a reference in order to obtain the certificates from them. Hope this makes sense. Victor |

Never pay more than £7 - as above - but you will need the GRO reference for the cert you need. (do you know how to search for the GRO ref?) Sarah |

Being relatively new to attempting to trace mine and my husbands ancestors, I've only just started needing to buy certs online. One site charges £25 per cert plus postage, the other is £20, postage free. Is this normal? I'll be bankrupt within the month! Where can I get them cheaper? |
