Makes more sense than anything. Wonder why they didn't register it if it happened at the Cathedral?

Just been on family search, IGI Gilbert Foy married to Elizabeth Dawson 19th august 1865 Manchester Cathedral. Beginning to think the Margt was a mistake and it was Elizabeth all the time. Gloria x

I would be of the thinking that /if/ he did re-marry, it would be after Ada was born, and before Elizabeth. If they didn't actually marry, wouldn't the kids have their mothers names?

Birth is on LancsBMD FOY Gilbert, Chorley, Chorley, ref CHO/4/6 I'd order this cert... Lancashire Birth indexes for the years: 1868 FOY Margaret Ellen - Salford Greengate - Salford - ref GRE/95/3 or this one Lancashire Birth indexes for the years: 1874 FOY Ada - Salford Regents Road - Salford - ref RR/97/13 and/or Lancashire Birth indexes for the years: 1877 FOY Elizabeth - Salford Regents Road - Salford - ref RR/110/29 to find out who their mothers were.

Thanks Tracey. I have got him as dying in 1888. it would appear to be him as I can find Elizabeth on her own in 1891 and 1901. I think Jess found this out for me a while ago. Its this Margt and Elizabeth that doesn't add up unless its just a mistake by the person writing the census return. Gloria x

Only found one Gilbert Foy marriage, and that's in 1919 lol I s'pose it's possible that the enumerator was confused - mixed up the daughter and the mother. Don't know which is which though. I have a Nathan who was taken down as Matthew on one census.

In 1871 census I have Gilbert Foy (1841)married to Margt (1841) with daughters Elizabeth(1868) and Margt(1870). In 1881 Gilbert is with wife Elizabeth (1841),daughters Ada (1874), Elizabeth (1877)and Margaret Ellen (1869). Is Margaret the same person as Elizabeth? I can't find a marriage for either of them. Gilbert was born in Chorley Lancashire, wwhilst all the rest were born in Salford. Thanks Gloria x
