Finding GRO references for Marriage Certs?

Thanks for that Sarah, I know COLLINS was welsh and I know FURSMAN was a Welsh Guardsman, so we could be onto something here........ and I presume it would be tradition to get married in the brides home town/village.....never thought of that. |

have just noticed Richard's original req said the marriage should be in Dorset. Even I know Merthyr Tydfil is in Wales!! So maybe that isn't the right marriage? Presume he has their first names though...... Sarah |

Oop, sorry, was in the garden! https://www.familyrelatives.org/treequest/jsp/customer/welcome.jsp Yes, it's pay per view (min £6), but is very good to use for the periods not available on FreeBMD and up to 1920. For after 1912 you can search for the two surnames for a marriage or for births, the child's name along with the mother's maiden name. Think it cost me 10p to look for the marriage above. Just popped in the two surnames and there was just one result, as the one surname was uncommon!! Sarah |

Here's the first marriage (hopefully) from Family Relatives, which is fully indexed (ie individual name searchable) 1866-1920. After 1920 the records are organised similar to those on 1837online. Fursman Walter R, Spouse surname Collins, Merthyr Tydfil. Vol 11a, Page 1910, Marriage Q3 1920 Sarah |

Hi Richard, You can log on to 1837online(dot)com to find this info,but it is a pay-per view site,£5 gives you 50 units ,each 1 search is one unit,and 4 quaters to the year,so you use 4or more units for each year searched,the units last for 90days and you can log back on in that time for more searching. Is there anywhere you can do this online I am looking for a couple of marriages: Fursman marrying a Collins about 1920 and Hobbs marrying a Elkin about 1930. Both in DORSET I have had a look on the GRO website but it say I am welcome to pop into the office (300 miles away) |
