Hello Alex, Could you please let the treeless, subscribing masses the expected timescale for a resolution of the GEDCOM import problem? Just an update on the TIPS BOARD would be appreciated by quite a few people. Hope to hear from you soon Russell VR Ord - Full member since Aug 2003 |

Please read all boards regarding import. Maybe then you would like to enlighten us on the problem as I fear you may lose members. I have recommended this site to fellow students of fam hist courses and they are all subscribing after I reassured them that they wouldn't have to input all their data again and that they could upload their PAF files or similar. I also share my tree with other subscribers and always found this site helpful but losing faith at the moment. I started FH with this site by building my tree on here alone but after internet problems I exported my tree to PAF so I could work offline. After increasing the numbers in my tree from 250+ to 300+ I want to bring the updated tree back. I deleted my tree as instructed (WISH I HADN'T NOW) and have waited over a week. But still my tree (twig) just has me in it!! PLEASE HELP US WITH THIS. This was the latest one i sent also hoping or is that hopping mad about it!!! |

Try adding a cynical message to the Successes Board - IF I could download my tree I might have a success to report..... Name and shame. But the censor would probably remove it. |

I've had my tree there for ages, it has all sorts of advantages but its not nearly as good for searching other trees or making contacts since most people now have their trees locked. I had been passing on the tribal pages link to possible connections but thought it wasn't always very helpful when I could have the whole tree here as well. The difference with this site is the ease of making possible contacts, not to mention the giving and receiving of help from so many people. That is why I finally decided to update my tree on this site this week (for the first time since I joined a very long time ago) when I had more time to do something about investigating!!!!!!! So Alex please ................. at the very least can you put a warning on the Import tree page to stop anyone else deleting their tree and then finding they are stuck. Caroline |

I would never import a gedcom because there are so many people in my family history program, and would not want them all to be seen, so I add individuals one by one. Having said that, I cannot understand why the facility for importing is not working on this fee-paying site. Joy |

Hello Russell and othes having trouble - here'smy message to genes. I've had no tree for 9 days too!! VERY MIFFED NOW!! I will not renew my subscription if this matter is not rectified soon. I quite often update my tree and want to send the new version to this site, so this won't do at all. P.S Genes, I have 2000 plus names I have in my tree here -- you won't have much of a site now all our trees are disappearing when we update!! |

I am going to wait until Monday night. The last answer I had from GR was to ask me to email my Tree to a named employee of FriendsReunited and he would import it for me. Needless to say I received the message after 5.30 on Friday and sent my Tree by return. If I am unable to display my almost 8000 rellies, how am I ever going to get a link? |

RUSSELL this is my latest message FROM Alex Thank you for bringing this situation to our attention. We are aware of this problem which is currently affecting come people uploading their gedcom files to the Genes Reunited website. I can confirm that our technical team are working hard to resolve this issue and whilst we hope to have this fixed in the next few days, in all honesty, we can't give you a definite date when you will be able to upload your file. We do regret the frustration and inconvenience that this situation is causing you and by way of making amends, we have extended the upgrade on your Genes Reunited membership by one month free of charge. Whilst it won't be possible to advise you personally when you are able to upload your gedcom file, please be assured that we are giving this our utmost priority and it will be fixed as soon as is possible. Many thanks in advance of your patience and co-operation HEY RUSSELL what patience is he talking about - i can't find any!! co-operation - well can't do nought else, got no tree to build!!! the free month was kind but i hope its not going to take a month to bring my tree back! |
