Morning all, I've had a relatively easy run on my family tree as all my maternal side came from Richmond Yorkshire and paternal side from Alnwick Northumberland. However, a whole family of 11 have disappeared after the 1891 census - they're not direct ancestors, all 3rd cousins 4 times removed but I'm excited as no one else went anywhere or did anything. I don't have a clue where to start looking for families that possibly emigrated. Were there preferred countries at that time to narrow down my search? Any advice would be gratefully recieved. Regards, Em |

Are you sure they're not just mis-transcribed? I'd try America and Australia first, if you think they did go anywhere. |

just Laura in first name box Stockton in birthplace and then see what appears.THEN use your imagination and see what sounds similar. could read as.... Drum nn=m quite often no surname no years Laura is a good name to do it with Elizabeth/Thomas/Edward = forget it!there are usually too many even if you enter a year +/- 1 |

Well thank you so much, I've had too easy a time of it : 600 + confirmed ancestors nearly all just from 2 small towns - all been so easy to find and track with records office nearly on my doorstep. I'm just learning what to do when things aren't as easy as that. Thanks to all, Em x |
