I have a great-uncle 'Titch' that I'm trying to trace, I know his wife's name is Mary and his daughter is Barbara - now I fully appreciate that this is probably a nickname - but does anyone know what it might be short for? Going slowly mad, going round in circles!!!!!!!! Trudy I have just made contact with his daughter after almost 20 years, and his name is........... ARTHUR - he was know as Titch because, in her words -'he was the short, curly haired one' - at least I know now, but thanks for the help!! |

Hi, agree with Janice. Anyone I've heard of called Titch was usually the smallest or youngest in their family. Sorry not to be much help. Christine |

Hello Trudy I have known several people with titch as a nickname, It is not actually short for anything but refers to someone who is short in height. Regards David |

Thanks everyone, just as I thought really - but I was hoping that someone might be able to shed some light on another reason - oh, well, back to the drawing board - I'll just have to start at the top of the list of possible cert refs for his birth, use the parents as checking points and hope it doesn't take too long to find. regards Trudy |

If you know the surname you could send for Barbara's birth certificate if you've an idea when she was born. Checking point could be her mother, Mary if you are sure of that. |
