check out a site called familia.......click on the site title, enter the word cumberland on the search box, then scroll down to Carlisle,or relevant area, and hey presto,it lists all the records kept-Carlisle has 18th century roll books,a few parish records etc.-and like many of the places listed on this site-it states that there is a research facility-ie a hands on librarian that could do a lookup come copy for you.

Hi Gloria, That's why everything found on the IGI needs careful checking in parish registers. Some of the information on there isn't too reliable. How do you manage to catch the sun and be on here at the same time, LOL. Kath. x

Hi Kathleen, put it down to the sun. I found two entries in IGI one for 1810 the other 1812 both marriages to the same lady. Gloria

If you have an LDS Family History centre near you, they will order a copy of the filmed parish records for you for a few pounds and keep them for about a month for you to view. Kath. x

Also on IGI Christening of Daniel Jenkinson 14th Jan 1785 Ennerdale, Cumberland. Father John Jenkinson, mother Dinah. Gloria

According to the IGI, he married on 14th Nov. 1810 at Ireton, to Sarah Satterthwaite. If you look at the parish records for the marriage you may get his father's name if you're lucky, but I doubt you will get his mothers name. If it gives you an age at marriage, you can look further back in the parish records and it may give you his mothers name (possibly only her first name) on his baptism record. According to the IGI, Daniel and Sarah had 7 children. He called his first son John. In a lot of cases a man will call his first son after his father, so John could be a possibility for his father's name. Kath. x

I have found a relative, his name is Daniel Jenkinson and he was born approx 1785 in Ireton, Carlisle, Cumberland. How can I find out who his parents are?
