I presume you will want Lancashire Record office? I live in the Midlands & don't really have a brilliant idea of geography for anywhere else! I'm sure that someone on here (or a google) will tell you which city has Lancs records office. Then give them a ring or e-mail & ask if they offer a research service (that's what I did). If you are lucky there will be a service available. I paid £8 for mine, spoke to a really nice man who rang me to clarify something, got a covering letter & copies of the records he'd been able to check. (Only downside was that it didn't further my research!) Good luck. p.s just noticed CatBalou thinks the town you want might have records held in Wigan. |

If you get no luck from your records office request thread, I was able to get one checked for me (admittedly by paying a small fee) by contacting the records office concerned, which was not local to me, & they checked it for me and sent info by post. Obviously a free look up offer would be nicer!! |

Bear in mind that an Electoral Roll will only tell you the voters who lived there and that many people, e.g. women, didn't have the vote so would not be listed! Kate. |

Hi Linda There's no website for old elec rolls that I'm aware of, they'll be held in the nearest main library or Records office for the area you need. If you have a look at genuki and find out where the records for Leigh would be held (possibly Wigan, but not sure) then you could amend the title of your thread to see whether anyone is going there who could look it up for you I'm going to Manchester Records Office next week if you need anything from there Lou |
