Whilst looking for family graves in the local cemetery, family name RIMMER, I found one that I couldn't connect with. It was for a FREDERICK WILLIAM RIMMER d1939 address 24 Wellington St, Clayton le Moors. husband of Elizabeth Ann. My RIMMER family lived in Clayton le Moors at that time. That address was the address of my grandma b 1903 in 1957. What am I missing ? I don't know who W Rimmer belongs to. I have found a birth on 1837 but the area was west derby so dismissed it. I feel that F W must be one of mine but can't prove it. I sent for the marriage cert to E A and it gave F W 's father as F W Rimmer ????? ( I don't have a FW Rimmer) Any suggestions anyone? Joan

Do you know the names of your Grandmas parents and siblings. They must be related somehow living at the same address. Have just tried to find him on 1901 census but nothing in that area. Gloria x

Thanks Gloria. My grandma was Nora Rimmer b 1903 (maiden name). Her brother was Walter Charles Rimmer b 1911.Their father was Oliver Rimmer b 1880 in Colne but living in C le M in 1901 with his parents and siblings. Quite a big family. Working off the death of FW in 1939 age 25 making him born 1914 I can't see a connection. Joan

I can't see a connection but there must be one. It will probably come to light at a later stage. Found Oliver on the 1901--certainly a large family. Good luck Gloria x

Can you find the father and son FW Rimmer on any census. How old was FW when he died? and did his father have an occupation recorded on the marriage cert? merry

Hi MMM, F W was born c1914. Died 7/1/1939 age 25. Don't know the dob of his father F W (senior). Wondering now if the MC I have is transcribed properly. Willtake another look on the 1901 census for possibly F W senior, Heeeeeeeeeeeeelp

MMM and Suzanne, F W senior was a miner. If the MC is correct -F W junior cannot be the brother of Nora and Walter Charles - their father was Oliver. Joan

MMM real poser this one there are so many Frederick/William Rimmers in 1901. By the way and of no interest whatsoever, I used to live down the track behind the Martholme Grange if you know where that is. Just a bit of useless info. Gloria x

So it looks as if this is his birth cert ref? Rimmer Frederick W Mcmillan West Derby.8b 1169 Birth 1 1914 I can't find a marriage for his parents! Gggrrrr Trouble is, if his mum had been married more than once, then McMillan is her married name, but we wouldn't recognise a previous married name!! Should think dad is one of these two.... isn't it funny how these surprise people seem somehow more important than your direct line, when they spring from nowhere??! Merry

Know the Martholme Grange.....my brother used to run it many years ago, and my other brother used to run past it on his training ! The Birth ref with MMN (McMillan) isn't the one because I have been in contact with the tree owner for that one and have seen the tree. I'm really confuddled now, I wish I could crack this, Thanx everybody. As you say other peoples dilemmas are always more interesting ! Joan
