i had similar problem....... only Ancestry had already taken money from credit card without reminding me first!! i contacted Ancestry who didn't want to know......... so i contacted whichever magazine the offer is with and the editor had said a lot of peolple had complained about this, i left it with him and a few weeks later Ancestry emailed me offering 3 months extension free, couldn't be happier now !! Another tip: Keep an eye on your renewal dates and allow enough time for cancellations to be actioned. Ancestry didn't email me 14 days before my annual renewal as per their terms and conditions and automatically debited my card. Luckily I was happy to renew but that isn't really the point is it! Kate :)

Hi Kathy Have replied to your PM. You should get full access to Ancestry UK for £69.50. Read my PM and we'll take it from there. See if we can sort out your problem re BMD's. TTFN Kate:)PS: Claire - Sorry, didn't mean to hijack your thread. :)

Kate Ancestry also did that to me! I did not realise that they automatically renewed the subscription. only found out when they had taken the money!! I did not really want to renew at the time. And i did not receive any emails from them at all.

Hi I think it is still £55 at the moment isnt it? Anyway my sub runs out 24 October. Ive asked them if I can renew at the current offer price but not had a reply. Luckily the card I used last time has now expired so they wont be able to take the money automatically. So I think I will bargain with them at that point OR buy through the u.s. site which in dollars works out to £55 a year anyway.

When I last renewed my quarterly subscription they offered me a FULL Year for £29!!!!!!!!! Of course I took it. The easiest way to stop Ancestry taking your money is to change your credit card details to an expired one!! I haven't done this on purpose, but some time back I couldn't log on. When I had a nosey into 'My Account' my sub was due, but I hadn't updated my card details. The original card date had expired, as I hadn't thought to update the Ancestry details, they couldn't take any money from an 'expired' card. Debbie

Hi All I'm thinking of joining Ancestry. How can I get the £55 offer? Regards Helen

Heather

Heather Report 21 Sep 2005 07:13

Hi, not sure if the English £55 offer is still on - just google ancestry(.)co(.)uk. If it has run out you can go to ancestry(.)com (remove the brackets when you do) and order a sub through the american site just for the uk records. It works out about £55 because of dollar exchange rate. Thats what I plan to do when my sub runs out next month. And yes, if yiou just order the uk stuff it is the same as ancestry uk. Another member told me you can access either through the us or uk site.
