GR DATABASE (out of 41 million names)= 64 entries. ELECTORAL ROLE (England & Wales-20million??)=50 entries. 1871 London Census= 9 entries 1841 Census(16 counties covered)= big fat zero. ANCESTRY DATABASE(millions)=handfull. ENTRIES ON TRYING TO FIND BOARDS ETC=zilcho. A member reckons most English Edgehill have gone back to or stayed in barbados.!! |

thanks Kate.......I had noticed that Edgell was more evident on ancestry ,wondered if that had been a variant. Whats a missing e between rellies! Wonder if there is a sort of Barbadian prejudice between those with or without the E !! Suppose its a bit like Dunn/Dunne,Osborne/Osbourn/,Clark/Clarke. The list for Edghills is about 20 or so in Barbaos, but the top of the page states 2 matches, because only 2 entries specify barbados under the Where Born column. |

Maybe they mostly got wiped out in the battle of Edgehill in the civil war - October 1642. Julie |

My rough synopsis is that they went to barbados looking for greener pastures, came across civil unrest, some stayed ,some buggered off,and once independence came, they shuffled back there for the good life-reckon there must be a pleasure gene that persists in this bloodline.!! |

After all that its Edghill not Edgehill which has more entries. UPDATE>>>>>> Theres a member who has loads of Edghills all oldies in Barbados..........and I checked the Surname MERRITT in Barbados-the same member has 2 out of the 3 entries!!! Mary Elizabeth Edghills father was called ... JOHN MERRITT EDGHILL JUNIOR (hence the enquiry). If there isnt a link with this member my name is Vlad the Impaler!!! |

ALTER, If you really want an 'E' i am quite sure the nearest club on a saturday night would have a couple of young people, quite willing to sell you one,If you go around shouting loud enough don't be greedy though i hear they can be lethal, i'd advise you to stick to your tipple, and leave those EEEEs alone!!!MOE! |
