Hallo How spooky - I've just been going through husband's Jewish relatives family tree. He has a gt x 4 grandfather called Solomon Zalig Hart. He is Solomon on his son's birth cert, Zalig (or mistranscriptions of same, ha ha) on censuses and his own marriage cert, and only Solomon Zalig Hart on his death cert. BUT I was in recent contact with a distant cousin who has info that his name was Solomon Zalig PINCAS Hart. I believe Jews customarily have a special name used in synagogue which is not the same as their everyday name, so its possible your Pinkus is really a variation of Pinchas and has a different name in other records. nell

hi Mandy, Archer's forename search gives 1 Pinkas in Liverpool PLU 1881, but not shown in LDS 1881c! Also 5 Pinkuses in UK: 1 in Renfrew; 1 in Manchester PLU, 2 in Mddx (Whitechapel PLU), 1 in 'City of London' PLU. I don't know whose 1881c database Archer's name frequency Atlas is based on but contains more than LDS database. Cannot search for specific individuals unfortunately only by actual numbers of forename/surname or frequency by county or PLU. regards julian

There are quite a few people called Pinkus/Pincus on the cenuses - mostly Russian. Can't find your guy though.

Can anyone help find a Pinkus Kleiff in 1901? We have him in 1891 aged 41 as a hair barber, born abt 1850. Do you think this could be his real name? Pinkus? or a death?
