OK, I think I may have found him in 1851 (Or rather Tracey Did), but theres not record of him after 1861, no death record or anything. I'm confused now. Any tips?

There is a 30 year old James Robbins born Gloucestershire living in St. George, Gloucestershire on the 1871 census. One of his daughters is called Anne, which could be after his mother. Could he be a possibility? Kath. x

So here's the jist of things. NO birth record. NO Christening Record. NOT in 1841 Census. NOT in 1851 Census. *IS in 1861 Census, marked as son, 20 Years old (Meaning that he was born in aprx 1841) Born in Shipton Moyne, Glocestershire* NOT in 1871 Census NOT in 1881 Census NO marriage Record NO Death Record. Now thats weird right?

Paul

Paul Report 16 Oct 2005 22:17

Paul Report 16 Oct 2005 22:11

This gets weirder! I just looked up for a marriage and birth records, and nothing! What on earth happened to him. He only existed in 1861!

I've tried the Death Index which is on Ancestry.com but none of those fit either. Whats the GRO Death Index?

Merry Report 16 Oct 2005 20:53

Have you trawled the GRO death registrations? Merry

Paul

Paul Report 16 Oct 2005 20:52

Yes, I've tried Robbins, Robins, even Robinson, and I can't find anyone that fits!

Have you tried searching for James Robins? I ask because I have Robins/Robbins in London on my husband's side, and also Robins/Robbins in my Gloucestershire rellies - in Chedworth/North Cerney/Rendcomb. nell

I cannot find him anywhere! I thought I'd ask you guys because I always get a bit of help from you guys. James Robbins born 1841, Shipton Moyne, Gloucestershire. The last record of him was in 1861, living with his mother Henry Robbins, his mother Anne, and his Nephew George Barrett. I cannot find any record of him in 1871, 81, or 91. Nor can I find a record of his death. Looks like he dropped of the planet.
