Having found 4 'ladies of the night' aka Nymphs of the Pave on 1851 census, (or to be accurate, 2 ladies of the night and 2 trainees) - all 4 have, after 1851, totally disappeared. Being completely ignorant (obviously! lol!) of such ladies and their activities, does anyone know if they would have been likely to marry or would their profession have prevented this or made it unlikely? Don't even go there!! LOL I don't know much about his branch specifically, his grandfather, no, g-grandfather, would be my 4x-g grandfather - but my own line were all staunch Quakers and VERY circumspect!!! But the all lived around the area, so would have known this bloke too I suppose!! Bet they didn't know his cause of death though!!!! I can't find your nymphs later either...........Maybe they changed their names when they moved from one area to another.....Is there a birth reg for the little girl? Merry |

Merry Theres a birth for Ann Hewer in Witney in Sep quarter 1848 - is that the right area? She's on IGI - according to that, christened in Burford February 1849 - no father named ....... what a shame - we could be related, lol!!! I did wonder about them moving and/or changing their names. Bev x |
