Address was BRIDGE St in 1851!! (not Budge!) We are having a look to see if we have any Hurford entries (don't think so)... Several Keepings have married into hubby's line, but they are all women so descendants have other names and because they have married in we have not done their trees going back. However, these villages were FULL of cousin marriages and probably worse (LOL) ........I'll see if I can find anything else for you. Don't suppose you have that 1850 marriage cert yet? Merry |

You may find this article about East Boldre useful. The first couple of pages go some way to explain the set up of the various parishes in the area...... http://www.geodata.soton.ac.uk/newforest/public/resources/eastb.html Merry |

Lynn, If your late husband's family came from the Beaulieu area and they were there at all between the 1750's and 1900, then it would be virtually impossible for him NOT to be related to my husband!! (unless your husband's ancestors were Gentry, that is!!) We are minor experts on Beaulieu/Boldre/East Boldre/Beaulieu Rails area, so if there's anything more specific you want to know...... Merry |

I STRONGLY resist the suggestion that the first number isn't much use! Go to : http://www.ordnancesurvey.*co.uk/oswebsite/getamap/ (remove *) click on the Get-a-map icon and put the reference in the search box. The local map will come up immediately and there's a link to the historical maps site which will pull up the nineteenth century OS map of the same area (when it's working -which it isn't always!). Cemeteries did not come into play until 1837 (and then only slowly, beginning with overcrowded areas) - before that all burials were in church burial grounds. Do you know where in Hampshire these Hurfords came from?? I have the Hants Burial Index up to 1837 (supposedly complete to this date!) There are no burials on my CD for Hurford, but there is one Hurforde and dozens of Harfords and very similar..... 13 NOV 1649 HARFARD?
