Wedding Certificate queries. A wedding cert I have states the brides age as 'under age' is this because she was under 21, she was 16yrs & 6days old at the time of the wedding. Also her Fathers profession is down as, I think, F.M.K. any ideas. |

Linda Yes 'Under Age' means under 21. As for father's occupation, that's got me stumped. Joy |

I think that should probably read FWK - framework knitter. Here's a link that might interest you, http://www*knittingtogether*org8*uk/doc2*asp?doc=7342&cat=753 replace* with . On the wedding certificate she would have been classed as a minor till age 21 Elaine |

I think the initials should be FWK - framework knitter. 'Framework Knitter Operated a hosiery making loom (Abbreviated FWK in census returns) ' from www.rmhh*.*co.uk/occup/ nell |

Hi Lynda Go back to that site and you will find a link to Ruddington as there is a framework knitters museum there. It's worth a trip if you are in Notts as you can see the cottages and machines. Their is even someone to show you around and he will work the machine for you, somewhere on the first link I gave you you can hear what the frames sounded like Elaine |
